T-Mobile & Sony Ericsson Refuse To Stand Behind Junk TM506 Sony Ericsson Phones They Distribute

T-Mobile cellular telephone company purchased the interests of Sun-Com Cellular telephone company within the last year, and the transition has been horrendous.

T-Mobile does not support the phones that Sun-Com did, and the service has actually gotten worse from the perspective of almost every user I know in the Charleston area - which is well over 30 people!

To add insult to injury these jerks simply sent me a bill for just under $ 1700. For airtime because my Sun Com recognized unlocked Treo750 used their airtime differently. Finally I got them to settle for a little less than $ 500. And HAD TO GET RID OF THE PHONE - at the time less than a year old, and originally worth over $ 500.

But the final straw was this weekend. After the transfer from Sun-Com also couldn't handle the Sony Ericsson 'Walkman' phone my daughter was using, and they consequently fried the screen on it. When we went to have it replaced under warranty, they said all they could do (after much fighting) was replace it with a different Sony Ericsson phone - their own 'equivalent' TM506. The phone arrived in January. It was much bigger clunkier, and less functional or comfortable than the one that they killed.

But now less than two months later, the phone is literally breaking apart at the hinge due to stress. Now this is not abnormal stress, this is everyday reasonable user stress. The body of the phone has too thin an edge along the bottom of the screen edge and consequently the body metal casing (?) is crumbling in two places where the hinge attaches to it.

After speaking to T-Mobile Customer 'Service' (more like animal husbandry type of service), I was told that they 'cannot' replace the phone under warranty because this is classified as 'physical damage'. The phone has never been dropped and does not demonstrate any evidence of abuse or have any type of functionality problem. The problem is in the design, and I have sent my complaints to both T-Mobile and Sony Ericsson who refuse to acknowledge that this is a problem.

They admit however that the product has been in the marketplace less than 6 months at this time, and as such its' history may not yet be well documented. Well this is (one of) my attempt to document the problem.
