On December 30th, I did much research on line and settled on Expo Cameras for my purchase of a Nikon D40X for $559. The "Premium Package" included the camera body, 18-55mm lens Battery, Charger, USB, Picture Project, Eye cup, Strap, 1GB Memory, card reader, screen protector, lens care kit, case, cap keeper, 1 year warranty and tripod.

The next day, I received an email to call Expo Cameras, option 3, to confirm my order. At that point, I was upsold and the new price was going to be $829, because I needed a long life battery and a high speed memory card. Since, that was out of my price range, "Steve Phillips" changed my order to a Nikon D40 with a 3 year warranty for $739.99. I was skeptical, but went ahead with the order.

I finally received the order on 1/10/08. There was no indication of the long life battery difference on the invoice and no 3 year warranty indicated on the invoice or in the box. The Nikon box looked like it came with the Long life battery prepackaged from the factory, so I called to ask what the difference was.

The first rep told me to turn on the camera and if the battery runs out after 30 minutes it is the short life battery, if not, it is the long life battery - huh??? So, I asked to speak to "Steve" and he gave me the part # of the long life battery as ENEL9 (instead of ENEL7). At that point I told him that I had no warranty and he stated that he would send it out that day. As of 1/18/08, still no 3 year warranty, so I called "Steve" again.

I was told Steve was not in, to call back. I called back Monday (1/21), still not in. I called on Tuesday (1/22), still not in. This is the part where I start getting jerked around. The same customer service girl is "attempting" to help me and puts me through to someone who claims to be the operator. When I start trying to explain my situation, he tells me to stop yelling at him (which I am not, just trying to tell them what has been happening and he would not listen to my complaints, and at this point I have become extremely frustrated!) and he hangs up on me. I call again and get the CSR girl, who then, of course, can't help me, and I ask to be put through to the manager.

The "manager" Adam, is the "operator" who hung up on me because I was rude to him. He started berating me, telling me not to speak to him that way and that he was going to hang up on me again. At that point, he said that the warranty takes 3 weeks to process and I should be receiving it soon. I told him that is not what Steve told me and then, he offered me an RMA to return the product at my cost.in the event I ever get my warranty, will it actually be valid?

Is this really a company? Everyone I have spoken to, which at this point is only 3 people, have been Rude, Belligerent, and extremely unhelpful. I did read some scathing reviews about the company AFTER I ordered the camera and ever since I have felt buyer's remorse and can't even enjoy my purchase.
