I was given a BRK Brands smoke alarm as a gift, box was sealed; box stated 3 yr limited warranty and battery included. There was no battery and the item does not work, with a brand new battery I inserted. I called their 800 number and waited for 20 minutes and all I got was a recording. Their site says they take pride in customer satisfaction and good products. What a hoax! It is impossible to reach them; they show no email address and do not answer phone calls. This was Model No. 83r.
