Purchased a Philips DVD Recorder (DVDR615) and it just failed permanently after 1 year and 24 days after the purchase date. Was advised by Philips customer service to throw it away! He did apologize and suggested that I purchase a manufacturer's extended warranty next time... Good idea! He didn't specify that brand I should buy... I guess he figured it wouldn't be Philips... Caveat empto
