I requested to take a leave of absence for some conflicting personal issues and the MA program manager told me that he had to present this to the Board for approval. I dont understand why a group of people have to "vote" on your needs. My letter to the Program Manager stated that I was having babysitting issues, my son needed major help in school and was struggling with his homework because I wasnt getting home until 11pm at night and I was possibly relocating to Houston and they
denied my leave after 3 weeks of me being out of school. Now why did it take 3 weeks for them to decide my leave was approved? And why were my reasons not good enough to take a leave? If my last day of attendance was Aug. 26 then why would they start my leave on July 29th??? To basically screw me, right???
Then they told me that my next class wouldnt start until 11/15 so I definately was going over my 60 day limit required for a leave of absence. My next module where I left off wasnt starting until 2 weeks after the 60 days were up. The program manager never explained anything to me as far the consequences I would have to face to return without being covered under the leave of absence. He didnt even tell me that I was being dropped and when I went to re-enroll they had my status as withdrawn. The financial aid rep did my paperwork as a returning student and I had a balance of $979 to pay out of pocket which made sense to me then when she came back from whoever she was talkin to she came back with all those new prices and numbers saying I would end up having to pay $3300 out of pocket with only 5 months of school left. I already did 8 months and I started out owing $2100 out of pocket then I come back to pay more than what I owed before I left. Her reasoning was I dropped and wanted to return as a new Sanford Brown student at the tuition cost of $13000 instead of the $11500 that I started out paying. I was an existing student and it was not fault how the whole process went. They messed me around on my leave but thought I was desperate enough to come back to pay more money for 5 months?
Then the school itself is very unprofessional. The teachers are very unprofessional. There was an instructor who came to the school to fight a student for talking about her behind her back. Now do you call that professionalism? Or how about an instructor that has no instruction and when he tells you to study for a test and you ask him what to study he tells you to read the book. Or an Instructor that tells you to study for a test and gives you all these notes then the test has nothing to do with the notes you studied. They opened a new campus and didnt inform the students that the office staff were moving and we came to school one day and everything had been wiped out, even the vending machines. There were two recent classes that didnt even have a graduation. One ceremoney was in their classroom and the other was in the breakroom? I thought cap and gowns were included in your tuition? They charge all that tuition per student and they cant even hold a decent graduation for their students. We never had supplies to do out lab work. We had outdated textbooks. I over heard an admissions rep asking for advice on what to tell the students who are enrolling and concerned about out of pocket expenses. He was asking what he could tell them so they wont get discouraged if they dont qualify for financial aid. They claim to have an open door policy but why are their doors always closed? I tried to transfer to two different schools and neither of them would except my credits. They said that Sanford Brown doesnt give enough credits per class so even if I took the same exact class I only received half the credit any other school gave. Need I say More??? That school needs to be shut down!
