Tried to SCAM me

On Sept 27th I stayed home from work because I wasn't feeling well.in the afternoon I recieved a call from a Judy Stone at Community Savings. Apparently the credit card application I filled out several months back was approved for $3,000 with 0% APR. Woohoo I thought now I can buy the new couch and coffee table that I wanted instead of waiting until February when I get my taxes back! But then she told me the fee was $299. While she was explaining this too me I got online and looked up their website. Nothing was coming up that sounded like it was this place which SHOULD have alerted me. Normally I'm about as cynical as they come about stuff like this so I'm going to blame my idiotness on being sick. I ended up going along with it and giving her my bank information.

Well since rent was coming up I didn't have the money until Oct 8th and I told her so. The woman was kinda pushy, but I let it slide since she is in sales. She told me very firmly that once the money was deducted from my account my information package would be sent out and my credit card would be sent out via 3rd party. *ding ding* the bells rang, but once again I ignored them. I really wanted that couch. ; (

I felt kinda off about the whole situation and as per usual I didn't listen to my instincts and just went along with everything. On Monday the 4th I decided to try looking them up again and still hadn't found anything so I googled Community Savings with their phone number in it and lo and behold the only hit I got was for ripoff report.:| I felt like such an idiot so I decided to read through everything. Sounds like they use several different names for this company.

Since the money wasn't to be deducted from my account until the 8th I went down to my bank and closed my account and opened a new one immediately. I figured I have my student loan coming to me this week and I am NOT going to have them steal all my money. I then proceeded to call Community Savings to tell them that I wanted to cancel my order. Half the time I get a recording with some annoying person telling me that customer service was busy and to hold on meanwhile sting is playing in the background. Now I love Sting and all that, but after listening to it for 5 whole minutes of the same song it can get pretty tiring.

After finally getting through to someone I was told Administration would get back to me within 48 hours. No such luck as it turns out. So I called back and got nasty.:) I asked for a supervisor and I talked to someone named Mike Miller. He absolutely REFUSED to give me a street address or phone number with an area code. He said they didn't have one. I called him a liar. OH and they don't have a website. I asked him what kind of company didn't have a street address a regular telephone number or a website and he just kept repeating that they didn't have that information and if I wanted to contact them I would have to do it through their PO Box.

Whatever. My account was closed so they couldn't take my money. That'll learn me not to do that kind of thing EVAR again!

I just feel bad for all the other people who got screwed out of their money. And I'm currently looking into reporting them to the correct agencies.
