Art Institute of Dallas Rip-off! MVB Music Video Business-trained on obsolete & non-working equipment. Absolutely bogus career placement! Very expensive! Nationwide

I went to The Art Institute of Dallas Texas. I took the course "MVB" Music Video Business and graduated with honors. I applied myself and graduated with honors, so, I expected to get a good job. After all, they made sure I stayed in school so they would get their money that I was signing for and strongly discouraged dropping out. They built us up with promises that if we stuck with it that they would help us get good jobs.

Two years after I graduated, (and absolutely no help from my so-called degree or the Ai) I finally got a part-time job through a friend (not the school) for an entry-level position at a post-production house. They hired me part-time to see if I could learn the position. Well, I was excited that I finally got a job in my field of study, but to my dismay, I saw equipment that they never told us about, nor showed us anything resembling what was really used in this field.

The Art Institute's so-called training and education was nothing but a big snow job. The equipment they trained us on was probably obsolete in the field five or more years prior to my attendance at the institute and was definitely a front to get accredited. I really had to learn everything from the very beginning. From graduating with honors, it was a huge disappointment to see how much they snowed us into believing that we were actually learning something about post-production. Their lack of equipment, teaching, and job placement was anything but professional or knowledgeable of this profession.

I have written letters to agencies such as The US Dept. Of Education, Attorney General, Better Business Bureau, some Accrediting Corporations for schools, Texas Education Agency, and our senator more than twice and all the Government will do is pass the buck, but I am the one stuck with a very large school loan!

I did not benefit in any way from this school. As I mentioned earlier, I graduated with Honors. You could ask a 100 of my fellow classmates and you would hear the same story of being stuck with a useless expensive associates degree. After I graduated, I called the career placement almost every day for two years for a job lead, eventually I gave up on them because every time I asked them if they had any leads, they would always say, no nothing today, or this week!

To this day I could call in and they would still say they had nothing! Job leads: usually they would try to send me to an interview that I already knew about through the newspapers, or they would send me to something like a Blockbuster video rental. The intern position: I interned for 20 hours a week for an audio studio. I vacuumed the floor, picked up their lunch orders, made deliveries, and made sure that the snack bowls were full. I put up with this for nearly 3 months in hopes of eventually getting some kind of training. The first time that I actually got to see a session, they called me out in the first five minutes to make a delivery to their other location. This company I was interning for had no concern of teaching or letting me know anything about their business. So I began looking for a full-time job doing anything I could to make money to survive.

To this day, I am still struggling to find work, got lectured a couple of times because I mentioned that I had attended the Ai, so I don't even put their name on my resume or any mention in fear of getting refused a job. Beware of any art school of any kind especially the art institutes!!!
