I am currently enrolled in Ashworth College's CIM course. That's Computer Information Management. I am having problems with their student services. I should say lack of student services and support. Even though they advertise a prompt and detailed response from student services, this is hardly the case. That is false and misleading advertising on their part.
I had a question on my last course in the second semester. It was on subnetting in the LAN book. I sent Ashworth a list of only 3 questions about this course.in particular, I am certain that one of their subnetting questions on the achievment exam is wrong. I explained why I felt this was so, and how I came to my answer. The initial response from them was the answer is in the book at page # XXX. This is hardly a detailed response!
I asked for an explanation of why my answers were wrong. All I received was a look in the book answer. Of course I already knew where to look in the book, but that didn't answer my question, and I needed more information. This is the second time I had asked Ashworth a question and the second time I received an answer like this from them.
I pressed for a more detailed answer and I still do not have a response from them, even though they initially responded that I would have a response soon. When I continually emailed them and asked "How soon" I was told 3 weeks.
That is hardly a prompt and detailed answer from their student services. The books are a bit outdated, but in Computers anything over 6 months is outdated. The books do arrive on time, and I have not have had any problems yet with their billing department.
I have a very high GPA, and finished the LAN course with a 94%, so this isn't sour grapes on my part. I just want them to be more responsive to student questions. Also, they have sent in their drones to the ashworth college yahoo groups (there are about 4 different ones now) and if you complain about Ashworth to the list, you can generally expect the Ashworth drones to appear and attempt damage control.
