I graduated with an AS in the Sports Medicine Program at Keiser University (Lakeland Campus) 2008... I went in with the impression that I could pursue a good career with this degree and after speaking with admissions signed up for the program... According to the literature I could choose several different avenues with this degree... I do understand it was only a 2 year (perhaps later would pursue my bachelors but for the meanwhile this was going to be just fine).. The literature and information given by admissions to potential students was absolutely false!!! Example) They advised one could be a Physcial Therapy Assistant with this degree. I think the only thing that was on the career list that was accurate was Personal Trainer, however they also failed to tell you that you needed to get a certification in this field. NO one really cares about a sports med degree employers look at certfication.
I, along with other students as time went on grew frustrated, the program was so unorganized. There was one (1) instructor for the entire program. I wont knock him, I thought he was good. Whats funny he ended up leaving!!!
Keiser also promises job placement... What is so pathetic near the end, the lady in charge of job placement had NO CLUE what students could do with this degree. She asked me if I had any ideas. I replied "shouldn't you know this"? I submitted resume after resume and absolutely had no luck. I even went to the Dean, and other staff members and of course they were clueless too... I felt helpless but kept hope...
Oh, last and final thing. Students had to do internships to complete their degree. The instructor was left in charge to find these places for they were not even established yet for this program... I really wished Keiser could be forced to pay my student loans... This degree is so worthless and I am stuck with an enourmous amount of student loans!!! If I would on known what I know now, I would of never signed up for this program..
