If you are considering attending IADT, i would highly recommend that you DO NOT! IADT is a ripoff 100%.
First lets start with the enrollment. You can be mentally retarded and attend IADT... They never refuse anyone. I had a 50 yr old female individual who clearly had some issues... Possible down syndrome and/or just very slow. She had no knowledge of a computer system, hardware, software, a network, anything to do with network/internet security, etc and was in 300 level courses as i was. How is this? What makes it even worse is this lady could never land a position in the IT field, and i say that with sorrow. It took her an entire course period to do a 15 minute quiz due to her seeing handicap.in IT you gotta be fast, quick to respond, and able to see the screen at the least. I felt extremely bad for this lady. IADT was basically taking her money, giving her a degree that she prob will never be able to use in the field. About 90% of the individuals at IADT are the same way... They know absolutley nothing about anything related to the program in which they are enrolled. There are a select few who did; including myself. So what does this do? This creates a horrible reputation for the school... Basically producing graduates who know nothing... Because they give out degrees if you pay. So for the individuals who actually know a little something about IT and could potentially land a position based off their knowledge, are screwed because 100's of individuals who know ABSOLUTELY nothing about IT are going out there, going thru interviews, and most likely failing horribly; which creates this image: All graduates from IADT know nothing. So my concern is sending out my resume to companies who have interviewed individuals from my school, and not giving me the time a day because they assume im retarded like the rest of them.
Classes are a waste of time... You will not learn anything. Lecture, presentation, in class assignments are ridiculous and a waste of time. They will not teach you anything. I dont want to talk negative about the teachers because a few of them were very knowledgable and actually work in the industry... The problem is the school/mgmt governs everything that goes on there. For example, you can take a test, miss 30 questions on a 100 question test, and receive an 'A' on that test. You can miss a mid-term or final and take it next time. You can skip all the assignments, and still pass the course. I've even heard rumors that the IT program chair was changing grades.
Tuition... You will walk out of there with a 60,000 - 80,000 piece of paper and thats about all. 90% of the students dont realize that yes they have a degree but they will never get a job in the field. No one in there right mind is going to hire someone who cant answer a simple question like "What is a device driver" Or "What is an input device" If you look at the student body, you will understand why they are going there. I actually dated a girl in the Computer Forensics program and she couldnt even tell me what a device driver was... Thats 101 sh*t!
Cisco courses - in the IT program, you will go thru 4 Cisco courses related to networking, switching, routing, and wide area networking and wireless. These courses are actually governed by cisco... So taking the tests is all online thru the Cisco Academy. Well thats great but here is the thing... Everyone has access to the internet and whats on the internet? Everything! You could find all the answers online. So essentially whats going on is students are passing these exams that make you look very credible and valuable, who infact know NOTHING about a switch, router, subnetting, security, etc. Ask them what a cross over or straight thru cable is and they couldnt tell you. That goes for all other types of exams as well... The internet was used very freely, openly, and was accepted. I would even say 95% of exams were open notes and open book... Wtf is this? This is college! Receiving my Assosicated degree at a community college was harder then IADT... Even highschool was harder!
Just rethink going to IADT if you really want an education worth paying for. The one from IADT is not..
