RBI Regency Beauty takes your money and leaves you in the dark

Regency Beauty Institute is a total RIPOFF.

First of all I must say I totally agree with everything written on all the reports regarding RBI. I did sign up for this school after the tour last year. The campus appears so beautiful and modern and so very inviting. That is where they get you. Right after the tour the campus manager tells you of a special if you sign up today. So that is when I got sucked into the school for the next 10 months of my life and for the special price of $17,000. I have a degree from a 4 year university so I feel a bit more experienced in life and dont make rash decisions. Regardless we are equals at Regency when we begin or so I thought.

Workshop is your first 8 weeks or 320 hours. For me I bonded with my classmates during this time. The 6 of us new starts realized right away that we were in for a long 1500 hours. We got a handbook with all of the Regency rules and procedures, but what I discovered when I was told to refer to the handbook rules change from day to day. I called corporate and they had this response: we are a growing corporation and our policies change because we are so fast paced and modern. My response was, If policies change shouldt we get a new handbook.

We have gone through so many assistant managers and campus managers in the past year that we dont know who oversees us on a regular basis.in ten months we have had 5 different assistants/campus managers. It was a big loss to this school to see Ms. Dodson step down and leave the campus. Ms. Parker was also a huge loss to this school when they fired her for doing something she was told do by the area director. Ms. Parker leaving had great impact on everyone the students as well as the educators and especially the clients. The replacements for these positions at the campus do not measure up to the standard at all. Our educators come and go because of the way they are treated by the assistant manager and campus manager. The educators are all supposed to be a team but there is always conflict in the Pasadena Campus.

We have a menu of our services with set prices. Over the past two months the management cant seem to get the clients service ticket right The new management feels they need to add on charges to all tickets. For example a client that has been coming to this school to get her hair done for at least a year whom gets the same service every two weeks the ticket keeps getting higher with every visit suddenly. Why would you want to run off repeat business? We are a school. Its students that work on clients. We are supervised by educators but not that closely. There is no reason for the prices to change from day to day or from client to client. Also the prices vary depending which educator is on the floor and which manager is on the floor. These clients realize that the service prices are changing but the services are staying the same. Some of the clients feel they are talked down to by certain educators and management when they question the higher charge. I feel the prices are very inconsistent. I feel the managers are trying to meet sales goals any which way they can.

We are a private school, and we pay for the private school education, but we do not get the education we pay for at all. Like the others on this website, I could have attended a community college and spent a fraction of the cost. I feel strongly that I could have received a better overall education at a community college. The educators do not respect the students. We are talked down to every single morning at roll call. Its always something we are being hassled over. I feel if the staff would encourage us in the mornings with positive reinforcement the students would be so much more productive.in return make the school more money in the salon. Why would students want to bring clients into a place that is negative and inconsistent. Happy students will bring in more clients which makes this school money. We pay $17,000.00 for what?

The managers water down all the products that we use in the classroom and on the floor. We are not allowed to use color unless we pay for it. When we do not have clients we are told to work on our mannequins and practice applying styling gel to them as if it were hair color. You get your application and speed down pretty quick. But you never get to see the results of how the color looks. This is a real big issue for me. You get one tube of color and 2oz of developer to use period. That is basically one application. Im the type of person that needs to see results. So you cant use the color, you cant use the products which they water down, oh how REDKEN would hate to hear about this major issue. Once again what do we pay for? Where does our money go?

When we are out of tide laundry detergent we are told to do the laundry with pine sol. For the past three months we have only had one working light bulb in the female bathroom. Most of the time one or more of the stalls is lacking toilet paper or the unwrapped toilet paper is on the back of the toilet. That is nasty. I do not want anyone touching my toilet paper before I use it. The soap is usually watered down in the bathroom to make it go farther. Its flu season. This is a health issue. The paper towel dispenser in the pedicure area has been clogged since I started. More often than not we do not have paper towels in at least one or two of the dispensers. The bathroom is always disgusting. The students clean the basics but where is the cleaning crew? I have reported this to corporate many times. When I call corporate I get a total attitude. Corporate was all perky and chipper when they try to enroll you. But as soon as this corporation has your money you are a total bother to them. We have gone through so many advisor's in my year here I cant keep them straight.

In closing I believe that the educators do have knowledge but not in all the areas they educate us on. When I learned wigs and extensions a student had to show us how to properly glue or sew the hair. When we learned skincare we basically self taught ourselves. And the same with artificial nails.

Please consider all of your options when looking for your cosmetology education.

Ms Wetouski and Ms Eckerman do not care about the students or the campus. Both of these managers are here for a paycheck only. This was most obvious to me on my last week of school. I'm still hoping the owner of the company does email me.

I'm getting on with my life and I'm so glad RBI is a thing of the past.
