ZPDI, Verizon, Oak Tree Inn, Et, al.in-Room Hotel telephone service Ripoff

ZPDI and Verizon are Ripping Off culpable customers of the Oak Tree Inn Hotel Chain by imposing astronomically high telephone service charges.

No Direct Dial service is available in the Oak Tree Inn located in Yermo, Ca.instead, the only way to place a long distance call is by a "Collect" call initiated at the Hotel.

I recieved my Verizon Telephone Bill which reflected an $18.47 charge for a 3 minute daytime intrastate call. That is a $6.16 per minute call.

I called to inquire about the high charges. It was explained that these are "authorized" charges, but they would give me "some" credit in the form of a $4.62 adjustment that I would see credited to my Verizon account on my bill in 2 or 3 Billing cycles. (not only am I being ripped off, but I am also being imposed uppon in underwriting an interest free loan on my money.)

I am quite sure that this is a wide-spread practice of co-conspiring to rip off customers of Verizon thru the auspices of ZPDI in that Verizon dedicates a whole page to ZPDI charges, Taxes and Fees (6.3%) on the service. (or $. 42 per minute) By the time they are done, my total charge for the 3 minute daytime intrastate call was $19.71, or $6.57 per minute.

This scam has to be widespread and encompass many other businesses. I hope they are getting a nice share of the proceeds because if other folks feel like I do, they won't be back.

Shame on Oak Tree Inn for endorsing such a rip-off through their not having Direct Dial services in their Hotel. $19.71 buys a lot of gasoline of which I'll be using the next time I wish to stay in that area.

Congratulations to Verizon and ZPDI for creating a clever way to extract more money out of their customers thru extortive practices.

AND: Boy do I feel "privileged" for having a Public Utilities Commission and regulatory entities that allow this sort of thing to go on. Legally!
