Robert G Allen Marketing Group Mentoring Group deceptive ripoff sales practices

Like others, I received an unsolicited email from Robert G. Allen informing me that I had been selected to be part of a group of people he would help learn how to do well in real estate investing. I am interested in this area but have not done anything about it so the message interested me. I was also at a bad time in my current job and the idea of getting free was particularly inviting at the time.

I should have been tipped off by the clock ticking in the email counting down from 60 minutes telling me how much time I had left to make a decision and then the offer would regretably have to be withdrawn and given to someone else. I should have seen through that but I went ahead and bought the two "e books" and seven "special reports" for $39.95. I figured that wasn't a lot of money to see if this really had anything to offer.

Then, within a few days, I got a phone call from someone saying they were with Robert Allen's office and that they wanted to interview me as part of the selection process for the few people Robert Allen was going to mentor through the process of gaining wealth as he had done previously.

The materials I got (downloaded) for my money weren't too bad. They were enough to convince me it is possible to do well in this business if you know what you're doing. However, the material also sets you up with several stories of how Robert Allen has written several books on the principles of getting rich and each time has accepted a challenge from LA Times to prove his concepts work.

So, when you get the call saying you are being interviewed to be one of the people he mentors for his next "challenge" you really feel excited.

In the "interview" process you start with one person who says he is the screener and needs to build a profile of your attributes to pass on to his director for the final interview.in this process he will work with you to determine your level of desire and motivation and, most importantly, your financial ability to "invest in your business".

After I had told him the credit balance on both my credit cards and how much remaining credit I had the lights finally began to come on. Okay, so I'm slow! I finally had enough sense to ask if this "mentoring" would be with Robert Allen himself. When I was told it would be with one of his "personally trained staff" I was starting to understand all this and asked, "Is this mentoring service something I will be expected to pay for?"

That's when the truth hit. Yes. It is a service you pay for. How much will it cost? A nebulous answer of "anywhere from $5,000 to $32,000" depending on your level of commitment to your future. That was the end of the interview.

Since this experience (just five days ago) I've found Johnt T. Reed's web site as well as this one giving some good information about Robert Allen and people like him. I still believe it is possible to succeed in real estate investing but I believe these people have discovered a quicker way to riches which is to strip the gullable. They prey on those that are down and want to get up by promising to help them get rich.

There are few things I feel you can do that are more unethical than to hurt the hurting and prey on the weak. My thanks to this web site and the others that are providing a way for people to learn the other side of the story from these scam artists and hopefully protect ourselves. God bless.
