I was using the internet when a web site claiming to show nude celebrites popped up under the title nocreditcard.com. I closed the window and I thought that was it
Approximately one week later, I received a bill in the mail for $176.04 from Alyon technologies. They stated that I spent 36 minutes on their site at a rate of $4.99/minute. I was shocked and my sister was very pissed off cause the bill was under her name.
I denied visiting the site and told her that I would not pay the bill. I viewed their FAQ and it seemed like they had a rebuttal for any statement. So at this time I was stuck.
I contacted a law group and explained my situation. They were not interested in taking the case and told me to read articles on the Consumer Law Page to find the "right" lawyer.
I felt like I had been ripped off and knew that I was probably not the first. I felt that their company had set up a deceitful business that tried to charge $300/hr.
I'm not a desperate person that needs to look at their site. And if I did want to spend $300/hr on porn, I might as well have hired a prostitute, which is probably cheaper.
I did not receive anymore bills from them after January and I wondered why. Then, in April my sister told me she had seen something on TV about this company and how they were being investigated for (censored). I was quite happy about this.
When I did a search on the internet, I found all these complaints. It was a relief in a way to know that I hadn't been the only person they had done this to. I was angry too though, because they have done this to so many people and unfortunately some people paid their bill.
I hope this company is shut down. They try to take advantage of innocent people and their sites are accessible to minors which is wrong.
