I aplied at ACTT (Advanced Computer Technology Training) on 1-3-02 for the following classes-A, NET, MCSE, and CCNA. The total cost for these classes is $14,488.70 and the bank that the school used is SLM Financial Corporation Educational Loan Program. The school gave the students the opertunity to rephase any two classes of their choice once the class was completed.
Rephase meaning that if at the end of the class I wa unclear or unsatisfied with the material, I had the chance to take the class again for free.instead of taking the A class first which is a prerequisite to Net we jumped right into NET.
I asked the teacher Neil Cotherman (Director of Operations) about the A class. I kept getting the run around and eventually got my answer. Once the Net class was complete we still haven't taken the A class. We then moved onto the MCSE class and the first two weeks were fine until the teacher started to miss class and cancelling classes for personal reasons.
Students would show up to class but the teacher would be absent. Finally we got a substitute teacher that took of the class and we evventually finished that class confused more than when we walked into the class.
We noticed one day that some of the classed were empty and we asked the teacher what was going on. He said that the school was undergoing some remodeling and they have to take apert the server's and such. He also told us that anyone that wants some server setup experience should give him our e-mail adress and he would let us know when the remodeling was done.
He also said that we would be notified when the next class is suppose to start and when the chance to rephase would be available for the last two classes we attended. A student from the class went to the school that weekend to ask some questions but found that the school was closed up and all the teachers were terminated. There was no one to contact and the folks at the other ACTT facilities gave us the run around and then the phone numbers were conviently disconnected.
We all got stuck with a huge bill and no education. All I am looking for is some kind of relief from this huge bill the school left me with. I never expected a school of all things to scam me out of my hard earned money and in the end have nothing to show for it. I thought that this day and age education was one of the most important things in America to keep current.
I tried to better my self and I fell into a world of hurt. I have to start paying for this lack of service come October I don't know what to do anymore about this matter. I really hope your organiztion can help me and many others that are out there with the same miss-fortune.
All I'm asking for is that justice is served and this damn company and its owners get whats diserved. I have a list of people that went to the same school and got screwed, so if your organization can help me I will definetly pass on the word to the other folks.
