They came to my door to sell religion. I thought they knew what they were talking about unitl I read my Bible and investigated their shaddy history. Here is one example of what I fornd.
The Watchtower Society has faithfully proclaimed the soon end of the system of things. Can it be true? Has Jehovah God allowed spiritual brothers o accurately discern the time of he end? In spite of many misjudgments in the past, can we rest assured that the Society now knows the time of the end? Let us look at the heritage of prophecy given its searching brothers and sisters by the Society.
In times past, Armageddon in 1914 was predicted:
In this chapter we present the Bible evidence proving that the full end of he times of the gentiles, i.E. The full end of their lease of dominion, will be reached in A. D 1914; and that that date will be the farthest limit of the rule of imperfect men. And be it observed that if this is shown to be a fact firmly established by the Scriptures, it will prove:— First, That this date, the kingdom of God, for which our Lord taught us to pray, saying Thy kingdom come, will have obtained full, I universal control, and that I will then be set up or firmly established, in the earth.

1914 did not see the end:
As already pointed out, we are by no means confident this year. 1914, will witness as radical and swift changes of Dispensation as we have expected.

In times past, Armageddon in 1925 was predicted:
Therefore we may confidently expect that 1925 will mark the return of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and the faithful prophets of old, particularly those names by the Apostle in Hebrews chapter eleven, to the condition of human perfection.

1925 Did NOT see the end:
The year 1925 is here. With great expectation Christians have looked forward to this year. Many have confidently expected that all members of the body of Christ will be changed to heavenly glory during the year. This may be accomplished. It may not be.
(The Watchtower, 1-1-25, p. 3.) Was there an end to predicting Armageddon?
There was a measure of disappointment on the part of Jehovah's faithful ones on earth concerning the years 1914,1918, and 1925, which disappointment lasted for a time. Later the faithful learned that these dates were definitely fixed in the Scriptures; and they also learned to quit fixing dated for the future and predicting what would come to pass on a certain date.

In times past, Armageddon in 1941-42 was predicted:
Receiving the gift, the marching children clasped it to them, not a tow or plaything for idle pleasure, but the Lord's provided instrument for most effective work in the remaining months before Armageddon.

Did the Society learn to stop setting dates after 1941?
True, there have been those in times past who predicted an end to the world. Even announcing a specific date. Some have gathered groups of people with them and fled to the hills or withdrawn into their houses waiting for the end. Yet nothing happened. Missing was the full measure of evidence required in fulfillment of bible prophecy. Missing from such people were God's truths and the evidence that he was building and using them. But what about today? Today we have the evidence required, all of it. And it is overwhelming! All the many, many parts of the great sign of the last days are here, together with verifying Bible chronology.

In times past, Armageddon in 1976 was predicted:
Thus eight years remain to account for a full 6,000 years of the seventh day. Eight years from the autumn of 1967 would bring us to the autumn of 1975, fully 6,000 years into God's seventh day, his rest day.
(THE WATCHTOWER, 5-6-61, p. 271, cf. Life Everlasting - In Freedom of the Sons of God Watchtower Track and Bible Society, Publishers, pp. 29,30; and Kingdom Ministry, May 1974, p. 3.)
1979 did NOT see the end:
Does this mean, then, that mankind has now reached 6,000 years into the 7,000 year period that God blessed and made sacred as his great rest day? Does it mean that Christ's millennial Kingdom rule, as the final 1,000 years of that rest day. Is to be reckoned from September1975? No it does not mean that. Why not? Well, the Bible record shows that God's creations on the day just preceding that 7,000 year rest day did not end with Adam's and that of his wife, Eve. During that time, God had Adam name the animals. Whether that period announced to weeks or months or years us co not knows. So we do not know exactly when Jehovah's great rest day began, nor do we know exactly when it will end.

But the Society DOES know when eve was created, and so should have been able to depend on 1975 as the year of Armageddon:
According to reliable Bible chronology, Adam and Eve were created in 4,026 BCE. (Awake, 10-8-68, P. 14; cf. Aide to Bible Understanding, 1971, pp. 333 and 5638.)
Has the Society set itself up as Jehovah's prophet who would reveal Jehovah's future plans go its searching and faithful brother's ands sisters?
So, does Jehovah have a prophet to help - them, to warn them of dangers and to declare things to come? These questions can be answered in the affirmative. Who is this prophet? This prophet was not one man, but was a body of men and women. It was the small group of footstep followers of Jesus Christ, known at that time as International Bible Students. Today they are known as Jehovah's Christian witnesses!

Based on the evidence, its own warning g, and Jehovah's perfect Word, the Bible, the Society is a false prophet!
Jehovah, the God of the true prophets, will put all false prophets to shame either by not fulfilling the false perdition of such self-assuming prophets or by having His own prophecies fulfilled in a way opposite to that predicted b y the false prophets. False prophets will try to hide their shame by denying who they really are.

However, the prophet who presumes to speak in my name a word that I have not commanded him to speak or who speaks in the name of other gods, that prophet must die. And in case you should say in your heart How shall we know the word that Jehovah has not spoken? When the prophet speaks in the name of Jehovah and the word does not occur or come true, that is the word that Jehovah did not speak. With presumptuousness the prophet spoke it. You must not get frightened at him.

Those who desire to avoid destruction at Armageddon will want to comply with Jehovah's divine arrangement for life and the forgiveness of sins. Each one who sincerely desires to serve Jehovah must comply with God's arrangement. Here is what you must do. You must recognize that God requires the forgiveness of your personal sins NOW, before Armageddon. (2 Corinthians 6:2). Jehovah god's will for your life is for you to come to His Son, Jesus Christ (Matthew 11:28). Jesus Christ has the authority to forgive your sins (Luke 5:20-24); Revelation 1:5) and to give to you everlasting life (John 10:28; John 5:21). You must call upon Jesus Christ in prayer for forgiveness of your sins (Acts 22:16; 1 Corinthians 1:2). You must act NOW (2 Corinthians 6:2). Salvation and peace with God are not found in any organization, but in a Holy Person Jesus Christ (John 14:6). Jesus Christ says If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it (John 14:14, Literal rendering. See the Kingdom Interlinear, p. 499.).
