The gentleman contacted me back in 2003 for friendship, he got my info from penpal gardens where I am a member there. He told me of his plight, that his mother died of malaria. She died 2 months less than when my father passed away in Jan 03. He figured since we all knew each other a total of 5 months, that he was asking me for $1200 in US funds to help bury his mother, because his Dad was a poor farmer and his sister was all he had.
When I told him that I didn't have that kind of money, he said I was rich, and I thought how could I be, living in Canada doesn't make me rich. Ahhh our country is a rich one at that, thats how he figured it out... Duh.
Since he sent me pictures of him, a friend of mine and my self sent him a big box of clothing and other items since we could not afford to send money. We could of sent money, but I didnot trust him at this time.
He got the box, but the post master told him, it was going to cost him $100 in US funds to get it out. I fought with Paul on this saying it didn't cost that much, but since he was getting rude and other things entailed, I out of frustration sent him the money.
Over the years I fought with him, but nothing worked, he had a hold of my information from when I sent him money through WU. He called me on the phone to talk to me, to plead with me to send him more money, he was poor and living in the country of where he is. I was angry that he phoned me, he had no right to call me at all.
He took on my last name and you will see it on the hotmail account he still has. He gave me a picture of the catholic priest that does mass there.
In 2005 his father and sister were murdered by a regime group that a war had broke out, this group is also known as muslims who hadnt been paid in a very long time had gone out on a rampant to kill anyone that wasnt a muslim.
Every year Paul would send me if he could afford it, a birthday card. All the other cards I threw them out, but this past march of this year I still have it. I have pictures of him, his father and sister, but I have to look for them.
The medium box of clothing we sent to him, there were clothes in there he wore in a picture of him sent to me. We sent another box larger this time (2) and we put insurance on it. He told us he never got it, perhaps someone over there took it, because these are poor people and are desperate.
For 2 months Paul bugged the heck out of us as to why we never sent him the 2 boxes that we promised him, so if the post master doesnt have it, then we've misplaced it. How can someone misplace 2 large boxes and we NEVER promised him anything.
Paul sent me his passport, I even took it to the police in my city and asked them what to do, they said, send it back to him.
When I sent it back to him, he was shocked as to why, why did I send it back. I'm clueless on that one? I asked him what do you want me to do with it, he said to help him come to Canada, that he needed an invitation to come, then I learned that I would be responsible for him here and I dont want that.
Now in this present day, he is working every which way as before to still come here, I felt sorry for him over the years, to trust someone you dont know and to come out of your trusting shell is very hard.
He has told me that he works for a mission group and they are helping him, if any to prepare to either come to Canada or to goto Europe.
His letter and Birthday card he sent me, the letter is so profounding, that perhaps he is who he says he is and that this poor soul is lost and without hope of survival, if he didnt find me.
I have looked for answers as to who he is, is he for real. ALL I WANT IS THE TRUTH and not something like, THEY ARE ALL THE SAME.
