I received a $39.90 unauthorized electronic check transaction from Mazumah. Like many, I did sign up for GreenZap to check out their service YEARS ago, if they are in fact the problem here. I don't know who Mazumah is and they certainly had no authority to process a check with 'no signature required' (it claims my electronic signature is 'on file' and has been authorized by voice or electronic verification by my depositor).
The check was deposited to an account at 'New Dominion Bank' account number 053012582 and then another number underneath which may be a third-party bank account number of 2010890.
The check is paid to the order of Mazumah, mipayment.Biz, Customer Service at 800-800-4923. Calling their number gets a recording and directs you to go to their website, which, by the way, is NOT secured. I do not recommend anyone put in any personal information on the site.
I called my bank, reported the charge as fraud and they claim I will have the money returned to my account within 72 hours. Further, I filed a fraud report with their fraud division which they claim works in cooperation with the state police.
They told me I could go to my branch and file some paperwork to block any incoming e-check/ACH transactions from Mazumah, at no charge.
I hope this report helps others — call your bank ASAP and don't bother with their 'customer service' whatsoever.
Hopefully if enough of us start reporting this fraud the bank compliance departments will catch on and go after these scumbags.
