Community Reading Club Of Southern California-Worldwide Preferred Publishers Service
Fraudulant subscription terms, dishonest, fraudulant billing

My wife agreed to a trial subscription last Fall for a month or two. The magazines came and they were an assortment of magazines we'd never seen or even heard of! We tried calling to cancel several times because we were unhappy with the subscription but to no avail. We listened to recordings for about 15-20 minutes before calling back and leaving a message on some other option. You can only reach recordings and if you do get to leave a message they just call back and tell you that you cannot cancel! They told us that we signed up over a "recorded" phone call for a FIVE YEAR contract at $29.95 per month! My wife never would agree to such ludicrous terms for a magazine subscription! After paying for a few months (they were automatically debiting our checking account), we closed our account to stop them from taking our money. We believe this is a scam because they are unreachable and only call continuously and tell us that we now owe them over $1000.00. We just got a message on our machine telling us that they are now turning us over to the court system unless we pay them in full by tomorrow! We are now contacting the Better Business Bureau and possibly the Attorney General's office to see what we can do about this situation.
