I received a letter stating that I had won a home improvement grant. They sent me a check in the amount of $4,925.40. I was told that this was a mandatory processing fee. And it was a deduction from the total Award share amount of $48,000.00 and it was to assist in paying the necessary fees and Foreign access taxes for this claim.
I had to call Andrew Young or Kimberly Miller to activate the account before cashing the check. When I called Andrew he gave me instructions on how to cash the check. After it was cashed I had to take it to the Western Union and $3,100.00 was applied to the fees and the remainder left was for me to do what I wanted to do. My bank held the check for 11 days and it did clear the bank.
I gave Andrew the information that he needed from the Western Union (it was sent to someone in Texas) he told me that the final Award settlement would be received within 3 to 5 business days by courier delivery. I never received any final Award payment.
Please everyone be aware of these rip off con artists. Their is no such thing as home improvement grant through Household Finance. They had all major dept. Stores on the back on the letter as donors. I should have known it was a fraud when it stated on the back of the letter "this notification letter is very confidential and it must be kept at home at all times". Dumb me should have known better. Please don't be fooled like I was.
