Recently I heard Virgina Swanson speak at two different Investing in RE Club meetings in the LA area. I later noticed that she is one of their corporate sponsors and they have her scheduled to speak at a few of their meetings at different venues. What I want to know is, did they bother to verify her credentials at all? Well I did.
After one of the meetings I heard her speak at, I made an appointment to meet with her to see whether I "qualified" to be one of her select "handpicked mentees". The meeting was nothing more than a high pressure sales tactic. Virginia told me that she would accept me in her program, but I had to make an instant decision to commit to a "special, reduced, limited time price" of $5995! She asked me not to mention it to anyone else, cause no one else was being offered that price, but as she saw promise in me, she would extend it to me! I've since found out that it's the same price that other victims have paid.
I described to her how my family had lost everything in Hurricane Katrina and how I was attempting to assist my family in getting back on their feet, thus explaining why my finances were limited. Ms. Swanson was undaunted though as she put together a plan of where I could get the money from to invest in her program. I could: 1) put some on credit cards; 2) sell off all my stocks; and 3) contact Cash Call for a loan (extremely high, 60% APR interest). Then she instructed me to step outside her office and research those options while she met with another sucker, oops I mean investor hopeful. She actually wanted me to call my credit card company and request that they raise my credit limit.
As fate would have it, I had an asthma attack soon after I left her office (probably from all the hot air blown) and had to be hospitalized. Do you know that Virginia and her daughter (Tosca) called me 3 times while I was hospitalized still trying to hustle their scam? During their last call they did, however, offer me a $1000 discount. And they wanted to know when I would be released from the hospital cause I needed to act soon as this offer expires on 7/8/06!
If the only way they can make a living is by scamming folks out of their hard earned money ($6000 no less), that's pretty pathetic. But what really got under my skin is that not only didn't my Katrina story phase Virginia, but she still didn't let up after finding out that I was hospitalized and facing mounting medical bills. That's pretty unsavory, even for a con artist! Fortunately, fate stepped in and saved me from parting with any of my money.
After I was released from the hospital, I couldn't get online fast enough to research her and her operation.
