Stay away! Scam Still In Ohio and Trying To Open New Center & Zanesville

There was an ad in yesterdays paper and I fell for it. I was willing to hear out this "presentation" about a new warehouse that was opening locally that needed office work. However, during the presentation he only talked about this position called IAQS or something and not at all about office or warehouse.

When a guy did ask about warehouse work specifically he was told "sure you can do it but you'll make MORE, $300 on your first call, only 2 hours of work, why would you want to?", and the question was never answered. He really didn't discuss any positions other than the IAQS position, which was also the most highly paid one.

Office work around here goes for more than $7/hr and the service tech position, they only wanted to pay $6.50/hr. That is crap and any service technician surely will tell you they wouldn't take a job paying that amount. They aim to get you into the one position.

How lucky for us they are just opening a new center here locally and all these jobs will be available to stimulate local economy. However, it was NEVER mentioned in the presentation WHERE it would be, I just happened to ask the guy on the phone last night. He told me they were just interviewing in Zanesville but opening in Byesville. Where exactly he never said and during the orientation, he said they were opening 2 locations but that is not what he said on the phone.

Now I'm glad I read another report stating that they basically set you up as an independent dealer and want you to get a business license. I wondered about that when I went to the parent company homepage and they describe themselves as "a network of independent FILTERQUEEN Distributors throughout the United States, Canada, and over forty other countries world-wide." That is directly quoted from their webpage.

Something didn't sit right with this presentation and so I wanted to do some checking. But since I've been a FAITHFUL user of consumer complaints for many years, I headed here as well as the BBB site itself. Of course BBB isnt' showing much info on the parent company itself but I sure hit the mother lode here! I heard the same speech by this guy named Scott - , who talked loud, talked fast and cracked jokes. He said:

- Told a story how he was driving a beat up car that barely got him where he needed to go and worked in fast food.
- Said he didn't go to college because "people who go to college don't even end up in the area of their degree"
- Said "college isn't worth the money spent on it"
- Said as an employee of the company, they will pay us and our spouses to take 4 vacations a year
- Said no selling was involved, they had a trained sales force (yet later on he stated that when "installing" a unit if you don't sell it then you at least get the $13/hr guaranteed, you just lose the profit sharing)
- We were told if we dind't pass this FDA training after 3 days, we'd retake the test until we passed or he'd give us the answers himself.

Ok, one red flag is who will want you to work for them if you can't pass a test and need answers given to you? Plus that profit sharing usually doesn't happen on a per call basis. Profit sharing, with most businesses is paid once per year on what the company did in annual sales, previous employers did do this. But not on a per unit, per product way.

Of course I was offered to come back the next day, I think most are. About half the people walked out after the presentation and a few while waiting. I wonder how many will show up tomorrow for that training. I sure won't be one of them. I'm thinking of printing off a few copies of these reports and going over there to pass out to those showing up for the training and the other orientations!

And the guy who was wanting warehouse work, he left immediately after the guy shut up to starthis "interviews" (which are only about 2 mins long and they don't even want to see an actual resume so there's another clue!)

Don't fall for this scam. I'm sure they will have their doors closed in no time. Stay away from them. They are praying on this community because of coal mines and asbestos in the area, and the presenter, Scott, even stated as much.
