Allied Data - Avon
Harrassment threatening and not even calling my house leaving a message

I too used to be an Avon representative. I jumped in both feet and was doing well until they started sending me over $600 worth of product every campaign that I did not order. So long as I remained a representative, when I returned this product I had no problem. When I turned in the final $600 with my resignation it went downhill.

I sent back the final $600 and was told my account would be credited and that would be the end of it. I received a bill for $300. I refused to pay it, called with all my tracking numbers etc. I did this for 6 months and finally everything stopped, no more phone calls, no more letters... Nothing... I thought this was finally over.

Here I am 2 years later, my husband and I are trying to fix all credit problems and get on with our life.

I received a phone call on Feb 13th from a Michael Hunter from Allied Data in regards to this Avon bill. The second sentence out of his mouth was if I do not take care of this they would see me in court. He offered me a settlement for $132, I figured this was a small price to pay to just get this whole situation behind me. He gave me all the information in regards to western unioning the money to them, which I did. I called him back 20 minutes later with the tracking number he needed to get the transfer. He called me back 15 minutes after that stating that he received it and it was now closed and that i would hear nothing more from them.

The next day my father-in-law told me he had received 2 phone calls the day before with nasty messages looking for me and told me who had called and that he had given them my phone number. I told him that I had spoken with that person and that the matter was settled. How wrong I was.

On Thursday the 16th my father-in-law came over to inform me that there was a message again on his phone from Mr. Hunter again stating that he did not receive the transfer, then in the next sentence that he had received one but there was a $67 balance remaining. While my father-in-law was standing here I called and spoke to a manager at Allied data who went into my account and said there was no reason for me to be receiving these phone calls and had no idea why my father-in-laws house was being called when they had my number in as the contact number. He reassured me that this matter was closed and that I would not hear from anyone from their company again. I told my father-in-law to go ahead and erase the message that it was all taken care of.

On Friday the 17th, my father-in-law, again, calls me all upset stating that there was another message on his phone and I needed to come listen to this one.

Mr Hunter is again on the phone stating that I did not do what I said I was going to do, that he was going to revoke the agreed upon settlement amount and that if I did not call back by Monday the 20th I would be hearing from their lawyers.

Again I called back Mr Hunter to try and straighten this out. They were closed at 1pm eastern time on a Friday... Guess when you harrass people this much and take money from people that shouldnt have to be paying you dont have to work a full day on a friday. I left a message on his voice mail stating go ahead have your lawyers call me, the payment had been made, I have the receipt from western union etc etc etc and told him that my correct phone was on record and to stop harrassing me through my father-in-law. I also left a voice mail on the main phone number stating that someone needed to call me back immediately.

I will be contacting my states attorney general and filing a complaint through them. I have started the process for filing a complaint through the Texas Better Bussiness Bureau, Houston and I will do whatever else is neccessary to get this to stop.

I have Multiple Sclerosis and live on disability and my health is going completely downhill because of this. I have warned everyone I know who is an Avon reperesentative about what happens and have found many others going through the same thing with avon now.

I didnt realize when I signed on with Avon that I was signing my life away, which is basically what seems to be happening. If anyone is serious about this class action lawsuit, sign me up.
