Year 2004
I signed up to complete the requirements of a survey at topfreegifts.com. They charged my checking account $158.95, in mid-September.
I called with no success, but they did respond to my e-mail. They offered a refund if I returned the "product". I had to send it certified mail ($10). I sent it back but the postal service returned it to me as "unclaimed".
I called the number about 2-3 times a day for about 3 weeks and finally in early December got someone on the line. He grudgingly agreed to send me a refund. I waited until mid-January and no check or refund appeared. I sent a letter telling them that I was going to take legal action, yet nothing happened.
