My Vinyl Works Canada 13.5ft x 5ft Resin Fan Deck (FC) deck was purchased in June. I spent weeks researching available pool decks on the market before choosing to purchase my deck from VWC. I decided to go with Vinyl Works because after speaking with one of your representatives on the phone I was convinced this deck would be best suited for me. I was looking for a deck that had an attractive look, affordable price and was easy assemble. Most importantly I wanted a deck that that was going to last a long time. I was told that this deck, being UV protected with powder coated steel components would last against the elements. This was my main concern and the reason I purchased this VWC product.
After only less than one year I have a serious rusting problem with multiple parts of the deck. What started to be slightly noticeable, has turned into a much larger and growing problem. Paint is bubbling up and chipping away at almost every corner of the deck. Rust can also be seen underneath the bracing system on the support posts. At the rate I am seeing rust, I don't know how long this deck is going to last and most important, before I start seeing rust going into my pool.
VWC explained to me when I first called them that there was an issue with the type or batch of powder coating that was used in the early models of this deck. I was told by a VWC works rep that I have one of those models. I was told to email a copy of the reciept along with photo of the rusting issues on my deck. Which I did.
In addition to the extreme rusting issue I have been writing VWC about for the past 9 months, the deck panels (the non-skid, high quality plastic panels people STAND ON) after only 2 seasons have started to crack and split! This past weekend we hosted a graduation party. One of our quest's children enjoying a day in the pool, almost seriously hurt his foot because while walking across the deck, his foot went thru the panels. His foot was cut, thankfully not seriously.
My frustration has hit a boiling point, I spent over $2,100 for the deck, only to watch it fall apart within 2 years. VWC has been totally unresponsive and as far as I can tell could not give a rat's patoot about their customers, their customer's saftey and the VWC reputation. Stay away.
