Don't use John Moore for AC Inspection services. The inspector was more concerned about using scare tactics and misleading information to sell us a new AC unit than anything else.
1. The inspector checked off the box that said "check condensate line drainage" to say that the system was draining fine. We looked at the line afterward and it was completely plugged. The AC started running a lot better once we unplugged the drain line.
2. The inspector wrote that "found with my electronic freon leak detector the Evaporator coil in the attic leaking freon due to it being rusted out". We called out three other inspectors from ARS, Sears, and another John Moore inspector. They looked long and hard, but couldn't find a leak. They also said that the coil wasn't "rusted out" but there was rust from the galvanized casing that had fallen onto the evaporator coil.
3. The inspector used false information and scare tactics to try to get us to pay for an expensive repair or buy a new air conditioner. He said that if we ran the air conditioner for an hour, it would "flood our house". He also said that we were low on Freon and that we couldn't get any Freon added to the system. That it was "illegal".
