I am posting to advise the general public to think twice before doing business with Jeffrey Jensen. Mr. Jensen works at Golden West Realty (a Century 21 office) of Caldwell, ID - however, I believe Jensen does not represent the integrity of other realtors in that office.
I met Mr. Jensen when I moved to Idaho to pursue a new job. Mr. Jensen had posted an apartment on Craigslist, and when I met him, I saw several properties he was looking to rent. He came across as a used car salesman, but I figured since I didn't need a social rapport with this guy, who cared. I really like the apartment he showed me, and after some thinking about it, I mailed him a check and signed a lease after I returned to my home state.
I moved up three or more weeks later to find out that this property had been foreclosed. This was something that was very much 'in the works' by the time I saw the place, and was definitely "final" by the time I signed the lease. I also paid for two weeks of non-occupancy for which Jensen was also billing his previous tenant, although she had already moved out.
Jeffrey Jensen knew full well that I would not have moved 1200 miles to move again, and that, as with all real estate transactions, he had an ethical obligation to disclose adverse material conditions and risks. He has since told me, and the other duplex tenant, that the imminent foreclosure and auction, was none of our business. He has tried to extract rent in advance from us, even though the house is going to auction, even though it's clear he is spending the money on something other than the mortgage. Two days ago, he told us he would be shutting off water - and the lady next door has two small children under the age of 10. That is an unlawful eviction, but Jensen feels all is fair when it comes to his type of business. He says with a straight face, 'This is economics, pure and simple."
I am pretty sure that this is the very redneck behavior that comes to mind when people told me, "Are you SURE you want to move to idaho? Isn't it full of militia?". Jeffrey Jensen is not a decent man nore a reputable landlord. He is out for himself - at any price. He doesn't mind withholding vital information, even shutting off your water, if you do not play into his money-laundering scheme. I'd like to call the guy a mob goombah, but he's not even that sophisticated.
Think twice before believing his flim-flam routine.
