Ripoff liars, deceptive trades, broken promises screwed others too I bought my home years ago but I still have the reminders of the SOB's who lied and cheated me

Boy, I wish I had heard about this site years ago. Gehan Homes in Texas is a bad company to do business with. I bought my home years ago but I still have the reminders of the SOB's who lied and cheated me.

First of all, they are listed in the BBB with unresolved complaints which should suprise no one who does business with them. Our sales person not only lied to us, but put her promise in writing and the company did not honor it. Joanne Sinclair (preppy, skinny, barbie doll, lying bitch) promised us raised panel doors in our first contract. We had to resign our contract because she charged us incorrectly for our lot premium. I was unwilling to resign without consessions. She said it is customary for the company to fence the whole yard and then outlined the fence line on paper in front of myself, my wife, and even our real estate agent. Never happened.

At closing, Ed Barge - a company yes man - told the manager of our real estate agent office (who became involved after several complaints) that they would take care of us and sod our whole yard because they could not get the certificate of occupancy with the fence. Never happened either. As a matter of fact, it took them over 4 months to pour our foundation.

Rick, the construction manager, was a real piece of work too. When the raised panel doors did not arrive, I brought it to his attention. He said, too bad, call your salesperson (who incidentally never called us back ever again.) She also promised us a garage door opener for helping her sell a house to one of my clients (who she lied to also and they blame me for it).

As far as warranty work, forget about it. It took them over a year to fix things and to this day, they are still not fixed. My subfloor sat in standing water for 4 days under construction and has delaminated. It squeeked then, and it still squeeks now. No one returns phone calls, my real estate agent and several other agents don't even show their homes anymore.

My suggestion to anyone building a home anywhere is: ask people in the neighborhood if they like the builder. Also, make sure the builder is a member (which Gehan is not) of the BBB.

For god sakes, do not have this company build you a home. Even if they put it in writing, you still might not get it. Their attitude to me was always, if you don't like it, we will just sell it to someone else and you will lose your deposit money. Joanne Sinclair has worked for several other builders since then and who knows where she is now. Probably sucking up to some poor sap like me to get them to sign a contract and then over promise and under deliver. Rick, their construction manager, once told me that he could not build me a perfect house. That is the only thing he has ever told us that I believe. This guy couldn't build a semi perfect house if his life depended on it. Ed Barge - he may or may not even exist, who knows.

Nothing I can do about it now. However, anybody reading this message has a choice in home builders. Do your homework first. When you do, I am sure you will find that Gehan gets a big fat stinking F.
