I ordered $1809.94 of quarter sawn white oak from Internet Lumber on 2/28/09. We were told that it would take approx 2 weeks for them to receive the lumber than another 4 or 5 days shipping to us so we should expect the lumber in three weeks. After three weeks we called and were told the lumber was still being dried in the kiln and they didn't know when they would receive it or ship it and to call back in 2 weeks.
We called back around 4/2 and they said they expected to recieve the lumber the next week (4/6) and would be shipping the lumber as soon as they received it. They shut their doors, turned off their phones and brought down their website on 4/7 without even letting us know they were out of business and of course, kept our $1809.94 - our money - our hard earned money. We used a debit card so we are not covered. And I believe they knew they were going under and lied to us especially in that last phone conversation.
I did some internet searching, found a cell phone number for Mr Briggs, have left two messages asking for my money back. But no response.
I also found that he is the owner of Canterbury Flooring - see and on another website sited as a sales person at Canterbury. I called Canterbury Flooring, they denied he owned the company stating he was only an investor and was never in the office which I believe to be a lie.
My advice - do not buy from Canterbury Flooring. If their sister company Internet Lumber - which was owned and operated by Simon Briggs - went out of business then Canterbury can't be far behind.
Mr Briggs, if you read this, please give me my money back - it is not your money to keep just because you could not survive these hard economic times. My husband and I don't make a lot of money but had saved for years in order to build our own home ourselves. We were right down to the end of what we had and you have taken a big chunk of. I want it back - since you never delivered the lumber it was never yours to keep.
