After three attempts and two tub surrounds later,
the second replaced out of the pocket of Fitz-Rite Improvement,
My shower handle would not stay on.
For three months we had to hold the handle up to the pipe to turn the water on and off.
That is until I paid a repair man 50 dollars to recut and adjust the pipes behind the tub surround so the handle will actually stay on.
The company said it was because my house is so old, 1958, that they could not get anything to fit right.
The surround has gaps at the bottom so water goes under the surround walls where it should meet the tub and does not.
It will cost another 500 for the surround to be removed and put in the correct way. They did not even caulk the cracks when completed.
They also took down all my newly hung greenboard threw it out and then used less regular drywall to go just at the top of the surround they replaced.
Now there is no sound barrier or water proof wall for my bathroom behind the shower surround wall.
For a fourth time they wanted to come back and finish. I said no way. They have not charged me for the mess they made.
However, after all my material I had purchased and had almost finished that they threw away it has cost me out of pocket and now need to pay even more to correct their mess.
I found another professional who said he would charge 500 to redo the entire botched job.
