Ripoff in regards to purchasing foreclosed homes

This is just a warning to anyone who is interested in buying foreclosed homes. First I called the advertisement on tv for the government forclosed homes through Consumer Resource Network. It was a toll-free call but then the scam begins.in order to get the listing I had to pay for one year or foreclosure listings totaling $68.00. I thought that was ok because it comes with a money back guarantee.

About a week later I get a phone call from a company called Home Buyers Consulting Network. I told the male caller that I hadn't received my packet yet. He told me that CRN had him call so they could help me with a 3-step program to help me buy a home. First he asked me about my credit scores which I told him. He started talking about taking things off my credit, with me paying the collection companies NOTHING AT ALL. I thought that was too good to be true so I let him continue. He then stated that after I finished the credit repair I would be assigned a realtor from Century 21 or Remax to assist me in finding a home. Which I thought was great because they are both really good at what they do. Then he said that he worked with lenders who specialize in "100% financing" so I would pay nothing to actually get into the home. Again I thought that was great because I got get all the things I will eventually need in one program.

Then came the price. He told me it was $399 plus $19 per week for credit repair. He said if I wanted to add my wife it would be $549 plus $19 per week, per person. He said that the credit repair would only take about a month and that if my score wasn't raised by 50 points or more and I get a home with no money down I would get back all my money but $99. Didn't sound too bad at the time because I had been told it would be $1000 to get a realtor and/or lender to work with me. So I gave him my credit card information to charge only $399. He gave me a reciept number and I was on my way.

Later when checking my account I see the initial charge from Consumer Resource Network ($68-authorized), Home Buyers Consulting ($399-authorized), Home Buyers club ($19.95/mo-unauthorized), Preferred Shoppers ($50-unauthorized). I called Consumer Resource network to find out what the charges were but somehow I got directed back to Home Buyers Consulting. I received a packet from Home Buyers Consulting but I never heard a word from my so called "credit counselor." I would call my representative from Home Buyers and he was always out of the office or would hang up. I called the customer service line, they would put me on hold for 30-40 minutes then hang up. Finally I got someone on the phone and they promised my money would be back on my card in 72 hours. I have yet to see the money back.

I also called to get a refund from Consumer Resource Network because I never received the list from them even though they charged my card. (I recently found out I could get a better list from my local courthouse of foreclosed homes for FREE.) They will not answer, give me other numbers that lead me right back to Home Buyers Consulting or just hang up. The whole thing is a scam. Do not order a list with consuer resource network or they will sign you up for things you don't want and give your credit card information to other companies. Don't pay home buyers consulting network $399 or $549 (for a couple i was going to add my wife, thank goodness i didn't) to help you get a realtor or lender or fix your credit. MEET SOMEONE IN PERSON AND THE MOST IMPORTANT LESSON HERE:

Do not give your credit card number over the phone!!!

Right now I am talking to a lawyer to help me resolve this situation. If you have had problems or know someone else who had the same thing happen to them... Please post a report here to help others!
