TXU Energy
Ripoff

If you are with TXU Energy, please read this. My electricity was cut-off sometime yesterday morning because of a bill that was only 10 days past the grace period. The amount of the bill that was due was $226.00 and they made me pay $751.00 to have the power turned back on, which I had to borrow. This included a $350.00 deposit. This on top of all the food that spoiled in the freezer and refrigerator, I'd guess about $120.00 worth.

And, this happened AFTER I had called to let them know that I was having problems paying the electric bill that has quadrupled over the last couple of years. The rep told me that the $90.00 I paid at the time was ok until the end of the month. The $90.00 was apparently the amount which, according to them, generated the disconnect notice. So, I was ok, right? The remaining ~ $226.00 was the amount 10 days past-due. I regret that I was ignorant enough not to get the reps name, but I don't think it would matter anyway, they intended to cut off the power the entire time to get the extra funds from me. They also said that nothing was noted on my account, guess I talked to a ghost. I paid the $751.00 via check over the phone at 3:15 this also included an $89.00 fee to have it reconnected the same day. The power was turned back on sometime after 9:00 pm last night, I don't know what time because we had to find another place to spend the night. Why didn't they call me to tell me the day before that it would be cut off? My thought is that they wanted to cut it off for the extra funds, same reason the rep told me I was good until 10/31. And another thing, my Shitzu is in the house all day while I'm at work and thank God it was not one of the 100 degree days we had been having because she would probably be dead. I have read up on the company and see that they only want to deal with well to do customers and to Hell with those of us who cannot keep up with the skyrocketing rates. I can't believe they have the nerve to ask on their E-bill for a donation to help low income people to pay their bills, TXU should be giving a discount to those customers not asking us to foot the bill. I called Stream Energy and they are switching me over with no deposit required. I don't even care if the rates are higher, TXU can go to Hell. If TXU would quit getting fined so much for illegal business practices, maybe they could give better rates. Just a thought. And they won't get to invest my $350.00 deposit for very long, I will be on the phone demanding it back as soon as the switch to Stream happens.
