Don't let Mike Smith Construstion build your new home! Please find another builder. Don't make the mistake we did, talk to people before this man builds your home. We talked to several people after that were just as unhappy as us. There are several people in Red Oak and Tarboro who will tell you to run!
Mike will not come back and fix things once he gets paid! He does not listen or care about what you want. We spent over $200 thousand with Mike Smith on what was suppose to be our "dream home" but it has been our families nightmare! He would not come back and complete "bad" work and he over charged us on things we did not get.
When we tried to work things out, he ignored us. We have a wall that shakes when the heat or air is on. A wall that you can see dry wall tape coming through. Vents that were cut too much and look terrible and too many other things to list. I have cried a many of night thinking about all that is wrong and why he would not fix it, but it all comes down to the fact that he does not care.
It is all about money for this man. Please save yourself from the pain of what our family has been through and hire someone else. Once he has built your home it will be hard to do anything to him if it turns out like ours and he knows this. I personally know of myself and two other couples that have tried to hire and lawyer to make him repair our homes. It is so hard, we have all given up.
It makes me mad to know I have spent my life savings on a house that was suppose to be my "dream home" but now I hate it because of one man. When I look around and see all the things that are wrong with this house knowing that this man has stolen my money, it makes me so mad.
Please don't put yourself through this and hire someone else. There are several other good builders in the area, but Mike Smith is not one of them.
