Folks, you might want to think twice before working for or hiring this firm. That's because they terminate people in a short time - as short as a year. At the height of the dot-com boom in they were 110 strong. Now they're down to 50! I've known several people which they have done this for. I guess the reason they do this is so they can keep good engineers from getting better than them. Also, if you're hard-working and not a project engineer, you'll be most likely on the choipping block. That's because Steve Biggs the President believes that workers should be paid as cheaply as possible with no wage increases. I worked for these guys 3 1/2 years and still got no raises from them even though I worked my tale off for them. I had good evaluations from my fellow co-workers but no one in upper management was able to see it. Also, if you have a Master's degree or higher, you will become a target for termination in three years.
Mahvash Harms is a real doozy, folks. She's Iranian and as President Bush claims, is a citizen of Iran, an axis of evil. Seems like her only duty is to ring up the fees on engineering projects so she can claim that large share of profit-sharing. When I was reviewed by Harms, she told me "The job budget shouldn't concern you." Translated, it means that if you're one of the street smart people, it means you can rip off the project by feigning ignorance and rack up the budget on the fees like banks charge on fake-free checking. I mean, if I were the company and I made the President some money, I'd be happy. Also, when you want more responsibility in engineering, budget is something you keep an eye on. Also, she told my co-workers I wasn't cutting the mustard and tat I had found a position with another company. If I had, I'd be telling my co-workers about it, don't you think?
When I was laid off, she told me it was due to a lack of performance yet she couldn't come up with any specific examples of it when asked. She's a lying liar, a macrobitch with a microbrain, an undercover agent of the CIA, the Center of Idiot Americans. None of the other employees were told because they didn't want to be spooked.
Also, Harms allows employee bullying. After I caught her project engineer Joe Gutierrez screwing up a bridge design by placing the footing outside the soil. (I have the pictures to prove it.) Joe performed constructive dismissal on me and when I reported it to Mahvash Harms, she told me that I was broadcasting slander. When any of her other team members complained, she sympathized with them; when I did it, I was told it was part of "male bonding" and that I had to deal with it. I wonder if her son Jonathan Harms partcipates in fraternity hazings at UCLA - judging by his mother, he'd be perfect for it. Also, many of the employees had problems with Gutierrez (who now works for Mesiti-Miller Engineering in Santa Cruz), but they chose to do nothing. Joe had lots of complaints against him by his old bosses Michael Thomas and Roy Schnabel. That's because Joe was in bed with Biggs and Cardosa. I mean, how else could you go to work between 11 & 4 pm and not get yelled for it? Also, Joe Gutierrez did something completely memorable of Inauguration Day 2001. He hit a cyclist with his truck, got out of his truck and claimed: "Don't blame me, I voted for Al Gore." The link is enclosed for your reference.

Also, Harms did one of the most stupidest things ever encountered. I was designing a building in a place called Shaver Lake, CA. The other engineer had designed a building in the area and I decided to use his information and verify the location of Shaver Lake. I took out my AAA road map and discovered that Shaver Lake was located 5000 feet above sea level. Anyone with common sense knew that snow happens there. I called the Fresno County building official and was told that the snow for this area was a large 150 pounds per square foot! It gets better! When I had my evaluation, Harms accused me of not noticing small details. When I mentioned the Shaver Lake incident, she told me "Snow loads don't matter!" Folks, that's a really stupid thing for structural engineers to say, don't you? After all, in this region of California, the weight of the snow must be included in the weight of the building. Well, when i told this to a few weather people, they fell out of their chairs laughing.
BCA also has a VP who owns an unreinforced masonry building on the corner of S First and San Fernando in San Jose. It's located across the street from Knight-Ridder's corporate headquarters. After the Paso Robles quake occurred in the San Jose Mercury News published on its front page a list of unreinforced masonry buildings that didn't have the sign. One of them just happens to be the Crescent building owned my Mark Cardosa. I videotaped the building and saw no sign stating the building was unsafe.
Also, Biggs Cardosa was awarded the preliminary design for the BART extensiuon into San Jose. The reason he got rid of me is so that he could hire younger engineers making more mistakes and charing more money on the projects. Think of it as a way to get more money easily instead of saving the client money. BCA will see the BART extension as their new cash cow and will try to milk it.
BCA also did the lowest thing. They hired the San Francisco firm of Gorden Rees (which many people call Gordon Sleeze) and had threatened to take my professional engineering license if I discussed with people how the weather affects building design. Andrew Castricone, the SUNY Cortland bastard, is one despicable weasel of a lawyer - after all, I wouldn't want him defending me if he keeps the truth from people. Andrew's into insurance law trying to get money for people who got screwed by insurance companies FYI. Also, they told me if I were to discuss issues of the day on KGO radio, they would also take away my licnse. Biggs and Harms sent emails to all the media outlets in the large San Francisco Bay Area telling them not to talk to me. After talking with one of the people that BCA is a client with, I received a letter telling me I was not discuss snow. Trouble is that client is my brother-in-law, a large demoilition contractor in the state of California! It's a pretty low thing for Harms and Biggs to do. People now think of him as Steve Biggs-iot.
Also, Steve Biggs sent an email to everyone in the company stating that Al Gore caused 9/11! It's a pretty ridiculous claim, so ridiculous that it was broadcast on the Air America radio show Morning Sedition with Marc Maron! It was read one month before the 2004 Presidential election. If I were a client, I wouldn't hire them because the way they treat their clients and their ex-employees. Also, Biggs and Harms were absolutely jealous because I had friends in the media. If your company was desperate for work, how would you find it if you don't talk to people? I guess Biggs must use telepathy. I guess this must be Biggs' way he learned when he was employed by Creegan and D'Angelo. Also, if you were a client long term, wouldn't you want the same people working with you over and over again?
Also, two of their partners left and formed their own companies after seeing the wrongness of Biggs-iot's ways. At BCA, you will think you're doing engineering, but you'll just be making widgets instead of learning to think for yourselves. Also, their recruitment letter to me stated that BCA has the lowest turnover rate in the industry and that employyes consider BCA as their second home. It's just campaign rhetoric. Plus they never paid out bonuses and always closed the office down lots of times - translation: working part time is a way of life there.
Also, there are no Hispanics engineers working at BCA. I think it was one of the reasons I was targeted.
In essense, you'll become bored with your job and look for another one anyway in a short time.
