Do not use action automotive!!! They broke my fuel sending unit and refuse to fix it!!!
The tailpipe on my '84 K5 Blazer from the muffler back fell off and after 6 days of driving, the exhaust melted a wiring harness above the gas tank.
We took it to Action 8/10/04 and they repaired it. Bill told us that he moved the wiring harnes so that it would not happen again even if we postponed repairing the exhaust. We paid them $297.55 on 8/11/04.
We picked up the Blazer that night after hours and noticed immediately that the gas gage was broken. The next morning after driving to work, the rear lights were broken again indicating the same problem. We called 8/12/04 told them about the repeat wiring problems and the gas guage problems, Bill told us to bring it back in and they'd take care of it.
We chose to get the exhaust fixed first so that this would not happen again. Sat 8/14 we had the exhaust fixed.
Tues 8/14 we dropped it off at Action to get re-worked. They called us and said that the original wiring harness had burned as well as two others. They tried to charge us $175 for the re-work, but since they told us this would not happen again, we felt it was there error. We compromised and paid them $87.50 for the re-wireing and to fix the gas guage problem.
We then saw that the gas guage was still not right and let them know. Sat. 8/21/04 Bill called to say it was going to cost $300 to fix the gas guage problem because the fuel sending unit went bad. We went in and talked to the owner Sam and after arguing about who was at fault for over an hour, we compromised that we would pay for the part and he would not charge us labor. He quoted the part at $80-90 and said he would get back with us Mon.
Tues 8/24 Sam told us the part alone would cost $361 (the original amount for part and labor). We are not willing to pay this amount because when we dropped it off the first time 8/10/04, the gas guage was fine, and when we picked it up 8/11/04 it was broken.
They should fix the fuel sending unit free of charge since it was damaged at their shop. We have already paid them and extra $87.50 to fix the wiring the second time - which they admit fault to since they told us we didn't need to fix the exhaust immediately - and to fix the gas guage problem which they have not fixed yet.
They refuse to fix the fuel sending unit and say that since we drove it after it came out of their shop, it probably happened after they worked on it, even though we called them the very next morning.
