Consumers are losing huge dollars as a result of Carfax issuing vehicle damage histories on cars with little or no differentiation as to how severe the damage was from a broken taillamp to a serious collision repair. Where are consumers losing? Experience the diminished value of a trade in vehicle with a dirty Carfax, sometimes dealers are deducting thousands from a trade allowance when truly nothing should be deducted. Carfax has spent millions on advertising their reports to be the "trusted source" when in fact they are filled with inaccuracies... And all along people are PAYING for this useless information. They miss as many collision histories as they disclose and the ones they do discover are questionable in many instances. We can only hope eventually some state or regulatory agency will spend what it takes to expose their practices and how this is all "smoke and mirrors".
