Rip off on Cars and Promises

I had just come out of a bad marriage and filed divorce. I had filed bankruptcy and no lender would give me a chance to buy a car. I heard about wholesalecars.com from my mother who saw the commercial on television. I called them after looking at the website. The lured me in by telling me about a tax special they were having. On the phone they told me my down payment would be 1900 dollars but when I went in it ended up being about 3000. They had me write a personal check out to them. I was desperate for a car because I'm a single mother and had been depending on my parents to take us places. Well I took the car and was very happy for the first few days.

A friend and I went to the mall one night and it was raining horribly outside. When we were leaving the mall parking lot I put on my brakes and the car started making a scrunching sound. Well my friend knows a lot about cars so he told me it was definitely my brakes. I called the car lot and told them I needed to speak to someone about the brakes going out on my car. I was put on hold for several minutes, while I was at work, (which we don't even have a lot of time), and then the call was sent to a voice mail. I left a voice mail but my call was never returned.

I went ahead and bought new brakes for the car and it stopped making the scrunching sound. One cold night in I was going to work to change out keys, when I cranked my car it would not crank. It kept making a wheezing noise like something was wrong with the battery. I also tried pulling my keys out of the ignition and the keys got stuck. I had to work several minutes to get the keys out of the ignition. Then I was late with a payment because of the holidays and because the owner of the car lot told me different than what the computer read. I got accused of trying to steal the car.

I went to the car lot to try and make amends to keep the car, and the general manager came to me and said we had gotten started off on the wrong foot. He said he didn't appreciate someone trying to play head games with him. First of all, on holidays you would expect a grace period from any car lot to get a payment in. I told them plainly when I first got the car, I would probably be late on a few payments because of the way my paychecks are directly deposited. They wouldn't hear of it and he told me he would contacting me and demanded sixteen references in case he could not get ahold of me.

I have been ripped off in the past but never like this. I've never heard of ANY car lot not giving a grace period because of the holidays. Plus they tell you one thing and do right around the next thing that comes to their mind to benefit them. This car lot is a complete rip off on down payments and the repairs on the car. They say they give you a guarantee on the car, but there was no guarantee because they won't answer phone calls. Do not go to this car lot and trust anyone on it.
