On 4/12/04 i took my vehicle to aamco for a diagnostic. It took them 4 hours to "make up some problems" with my tranny. I authorized a diagnostic only. My vehicle was "road tested" for 30 to 40 minutes. The report said everything was okay except 1st gear and reverse. Duhhh... I told them that when I came in!
I left my car there called at the end of the day. It had not been "taken apart." Called 4/13/04. Still not taken apart and did not have a report. 4/15/04 I called and was told Mike would call me back later the same day. Later on that day of 4/15/04 the report was in. It was a long list of things and totaled 2600 dollars. Needlesss to say, I don't have that kind of money. Mike advised of 2 finance companies that they use. I'm thankful now that I did not qualify for either of those loans.
Mind you, I still have not authorized anything except a diagnostic for 49.95.
On 4/16/04 spoke w / Mike. I told him to put my vehicle back the way it was when I drove it in there and I'm coming to get it.
Mike continually tried pressuring me into getting the thing fixed. Mike implied that something was wrong because I was changing my mind. Mike miraculously came down on his figure to 1900 dollars. I still did not authorize any work but the diagnostic.
Mike is holding my vehicle hostage. After reading all the other horror stories, I'm convinced that these people are no better than common criminals. They only want money for doing a half-assed job (if they are really doing the job.) I felt that this was the most stupid thing I have ever done. I agonized the situation over and over. I'm going to get my vehicle. Those mechanics are going to restore it to its original state. I'll pay for the diagnostic and nothing more. Those bastards must be stopped. Have any of you seen the acutual work that was done? Did a mechanic bother to explain anything to you? Ddid you see or ask for the tranny parts? I'm just livid right now. I still feel like I was taken advantage of. Did I mention that I am a woman?
