Back in November, I called and asked if I can make Novembers and Decembers payment in November, because of Christmas. I told the 'customer service specialist' to apply both amounts as payments, do not apply Decembers payment towards principal. No problem she said.
Well, in March I pulled my own credit report and Household showed me 90 days late on Decembers payment. So I called and they said, 'oh yeah, I see in the notes where it says to apply the 850.00 as two payments but they applied one payment towards principal'. So then they told me that I would have to dispute it with the credit bureau. Ummmm, no, it was their responsibility to fix it. It is now 2004 and, according to them, it has been resolved. Well, maybe in their notes it is, but on my credit report it isn't.
Not only that, Experian credit bureau doesn't even show activity on this account as of October! When I pulled my credit report last year, it didn't show this, now it does. Today, I called to inform them of the 'no activity' status. "Nathan" told me that he would send a request to fix it. Then he told me that my payment for this month was $87.70 less than the regular amount. He said it was because I have been over-paying for the past 5 months, so the amount is less. OK, well, eee-yeah I've been paying more a month just so I can be rid of this incompetent company, however, I had to pay about $160.00 more last month because they said I was behind!
I did not realise this until I read some of these other complaints. Household was Beneficial? I had problems with them too! I purchased furniture in 1994 and they financed it. I paid the loan off almost a year early and they tried to squeeze more money out of me. Not a lot, a hundred dollars or so, but they sure tried!!! When I didn't pay it, they reported me to the credit bureaus! Who are these people?
If I ever go anywhere and apply for credit, I will ask if they use Housthold as one of their loan companies. If they say 'yes', I'll run, not walk, out of that establishment and never look back.
