I bought a brand new KIA soul plus with 19 miles on it. Put down $10,500.00. Loved the car. Under 100 miles the engine light was on. I called and was told by KIA, the salesman and the service dept. That it was ok to drive as long as it was not blinking.

I took it in and they fixed it saying it was a lose connection. Just under 300 miles it came on again. This time they said it was the thermostat and needed to be ordered but told me it was still ok to drive. I chose not to. I did not buy a new car to drive around with the engine light on. So I garaged it for 10 days. The part came in and it was " fixed". I did file a complaint with KIA motors and have a case number. After wating for two hours for the repair, they would not even clean my car or fill it with gas.

At 982 miles on May 21 while the car is less than 6 weeks old, the car died in the middle of the road. Would not start. I called KIA and after such a wait and run around decided to call AAA road side towing. Took it to Power Kia in Salem Oregon. They called today to let me know that the oil pump had not been working, so no oil got into the engine. It is melted, three of the four cylinders are shot, they won't put in a new engine. Went to the dealer where I bought it, Ron Tonkin in gladstone oregon. The finance manager Greg Whitaker told me to come in and he would replace the car with a new one and would take care of me. They wanted me to be happy.

After driving an hour and spending four hours there, they were going to replace the car with a new one, but wanted me to pay an extra $3,000.00 as my new car is now conisdered a " trade in" and has lost value. Along with trying to ad another extended warranty, title, doc fees, registration etc. Plus telling me I would not qualify for a loan of $5,800.00 there fore trying to add the extended warranty and GAP insurance which I did not want. I made it clear I was not going to go above my payment and told them they owed me some compensation. They were rude, nasty, arrogant and basically told me to leave. With this much engine damage to the car, it will never be the same.

I inspected the parts and they are melted. Pistons are probably ruined too. With this type of damage, it will not have a clean carfax title if I decide to sell it. KIA motors has been of NO help at all. Power Kia was nice enough to give me loaner car, but I am refusing to pick up the damaged vehicle. I bought a new car as to not have to deal with break downs, lights coming on etc.By the way, the blue tooth phone system worked for only two weeks and that is also bad. They do not care, so I made it clear I would file suit and file all I could on the internet to alert consumers as to their horrible service.

The car is cute, drives nice, fun, but when the engine light is on 90% of the time and they advise me to " keep driving it, that it won't hurt a thing" I think they are mis-informed. I could have been killied had this happend on the freeway. They did not even offer to pay the tow bill for me, nothing but get out we can't help you when I refused to pay more. The cars are advertised at $13,000 to $18,000. I paid 15,995. I bought a new car and want a new car, not a melted engine that is repaired.
