I went in and told the attendant, John, to put $20 worth of gas on my credit card. I wasn't given a receipt. When I filled my tank, it stopped at $20, like most gas stations do.
When I checked my bank account later, i was charged $20.24. Normally I wouldn't care too much, but this caused my bank account to overdraft 2 cents, which cost me $35 in overdraft fees.
I called to tell them about this, and was told very rudely that the extra 24 cents was because gas costs an extra 3 cents a gallon when using a credit card, and I should know that because it's written on the gas pump.
Maybe it was written there, but any other gas station would charge $20 with the gas a higher price per gallon, still making $20 come off the card. I tried explaining that I had told him i wanted $20 to come out of my account, but he interrupted me first by talking to someone else there, then again telling me I didn't understand, and kept telling me I didn't understand. Then he hung up on me.
I never got the name of the man I spoke to, I only know it was at 6:43 pm on Tuesday, July 21.
