I went in a couple of different times and the experience was equally poor. The first time they tried to sell me a car that wouldn't start and was smoking. Didn't learn my lesson then. The second time they tried to play the "how much do you want your monthly payments to be" game. I walked out. I finally found a truck from a salesperson who wasn't full of it. We agreed on a price for the truck and I explained it was $3000 cash and $9000 bank check. The reason I kept checking back with them was because I was with Road Loans and looking for a Dodge and they are one of the only two Dodge dealers on Road loans list of dealers. Birds of a feather...
We make the deal and at the last minute they back out. To top it off they refused to give me my $3000 down payment back and said I would have to come back tomorrow. They said it was "locked in the safe". They claim Road Loans charges them a $2500 fee but I think it's because they saw I was approved for $15,000 and only spent $10,000.
I tried to work with them and didn't want to be an a-hole. I'm too nice, I know. I use to believe that if I put positive energy into the universe I would get positive energy back. But the way things have been going lately I'm starting to realize the universe likes to balance itself out.
Anyway, if the fee is true, I can see how they wouldn't want to lose money. They show me another truck that could work and fit Road Loans criteria. I agreed just to get out of there. It was a nice F150 EXT rather than a Dodge Ram Quad. I was dizzy, my head was spinning and they wore me down pretty well keeping me there for about 5-6 hours so I just wanted to get out of there. I've been car shopping for about a month now and it seems EVERYONE sells their trucks WAY above clean retail. This deal was about 1000 over clean retail. Funny thing is they kept telling me how much they pay for their trucks and blah blah blah but when I took a 2007 Dodge Ram QUAD with HEMI to trade in 2008 with 25,000 miles they said they could give me $12,500 which meant I was upside down $7500. Same car on their lot would sell for $22,000.
This morning I research Road Loans aka Triad aka Drive Financial customer comments and I can't believe some of the things I hear! They are basically running a racket. The finance guy agreed and I agreed I should come in with a co-signer and try to get the loan from a credit union. I told them I would try to come in tonight but I have a full day of work. It would be in both of our best interest since they have a hard time collecting from Road Loans and Road Loans seems to screw people by losing payments, holding checks for weeks until it's late and compounding interest (from the things I've read).
I get a call from the manager RJ or something like that. He demands I bring in the car immediately! I explained I have a full day of work today and a full day of work tomorrow but I'm off on Thursday. I'll do everything I can to get it to them tonight but if I don't get off work until 8:30 or 9pm it's impossible. That's wasn't good enough for them! I wasted my entire day off yesterday on a simple transaction, PLUS I let them back out of their sales agreement which I had in writing and worked with them to find a truck I would be happy with and they would make a little money on. Then I even went a step further to try to benefit both of us by trying to get financed through other places with a co-signer! It's like give and give and give and get no co-operation in return!
Instead of calling me to thank me and get the ball rolling with my co-signer they tell me if I don't bring in the truck today they are going charge me out of my down payment. So if I don't lose about a hundred bucks by taking 2 to 3 hours off of work to take care of this, I would lose an undisclosed amount out of my down payment. I told them they can come pick it up and they said they would charge ME towing!!!
It's been an absolute nightmare! I advise EVERYONE reading this to simply walk away from both Dallas Dodge AND Road Loans. I am STILL in awe about the nerve of these people!!!
