This nightmare began last june, when I took my car to Rod Hatfield Chevrolet for a routine radiator flush, for which they charged $149.95. Their "certified" mechanics put too much pressure on the car, and blew up my radiator & water pump in the process of the flush out. Stay with me, dear readers, the story gets much worse.
After discovering the trouble, I was stranded on the road, so I had to pay a tow service $75 to haul the car back to them. Their techs checked the car out for a second time. Their response was that the temp gauge was simply reading high, the car was NOT overheating. For this paltry advice & all my trouble they charged me another $145.95. That was in late july.
Now the "good" part. The car developed a leak from the water pump & radiator due to excess pressure from their flush out. I took it back to them on August 1. (It was there 3 TIMES in just over 30 days) This time, their solution was to changed the water pump, and radiator. This was the backbreaker. They handed me a bill for yet another $1453.57, which I rejected. Then after I called GM corp and an attorney, they agreed to take $1000, calling this small discount "Goodwill", like it was a charity case.
I later discovered, however, that their so called "goodwill" was a RIP OFF OF MAJOR PROPORTION. I found out that the parts they put on were not factory, as they claim, but cheap replacements from a discount parts dealer (could be either advance, autozone or O'rielly auto parts) near them. After contacting them about the parts, the manager told me to bring the car back & they would make it right.
Once I got there this morning, however, his tune changed quite a bit. Just a tired old put off scheme. He said they would resolve it by noon tomorrow.in their eyes, I'm sure resolve means FORGET.
To all consumers out there, do yourselves a favor. Stay away from these crooks!!
