Mr. Transmission - Alan And John
Swindled and Scammed and Broke My Radiato

Spoke to a guy named John at Mr. Transmission. I explained my entire situation to him. I am an unemployed student who would only be able to get my car fixed if my parents could get financing. I told him they had decent credit and good jobs, he assured me that it would be no problem. He said the company that gives the financing was reasonable and not to worry about it. He said that diagnostics was free and if I didn't want to go with them that all I had to pay for was towing. (Lie Numbers 1 & 2)

John spoke to my mom and told her that to fix the entire transmission wouldn't cost anymore then $1600 total. When I rode the bus over to Mr. Transmission, he would not tell me a price. I asked him directly at least 3 times how much it would be if everything had to be replaced, he told me there was no way everything in the transmission is bad so that doesn't matter. He told me that if I would go ahead and pay for the labor, which would amount to $595, that he could go ahead and get started fixing my car (Lie Numbers 3 & 4). I gave him $500 which was all I had. He said that was fine and they could get started. Then he called me later on and told me that then entire transmission was in fact, bad and that it would be 2200 to fix it and neither of my parents qualified for financing. I asked how much it would be just to get my car back (because he said earlier if I didn't want to get it fixed, it would just be towing) he told me that I had to give them another $100 for labor they didn't do in order to get my car back. So we called our lawyer and corporate. Now, Alan the owner becomes involved.

Januray ~ February
I had several conversations with Alan. He worked out a deal of some sort with a friend that sold him a core for my vehicle for $500. He wanted me to bring him the $500 before he would purchase it. I came down with the flu/strep throat for about 2 weeks so I wasn't able to come by. I had the full 500 and I told him so, but my mom wound up being short with the bills, so I had to give her 100 of it, and I called bobby and told him I only had 400, he said okay and took the payment. A week or so later, I call Alan to tell him that I'm coming along with gathering up the rest of the money for the car. He tells me that he has already put the entire transmission together and that he's just waiting on me to come up with the rest of the money. I tell him I already have 600 and am just waiting to figure out how to get the rest. He said for me to bring him that money and he would go ahead and finish fixing it and that way when I bring him the rest, I could just drive away. Okay, so the following Tuesday, I have a prepaid card that saves me from having to spend an entire day on the bus and the train making the payment. So I go put the money on the card, but I can only load up 500 which I didn't know at the time of talking to Alan and it took off 5 dollars for monthly fee, leaving $495, so Alan calls me back after a misunderstanding at about 6:30 and I explain to him that I could only put 500 on the card and what happened. He made no indication that there was a problem and so I gave him a payment for $495 and told him I would have the rest within a week or so. We hang up. That Thursday, my grandmother sends me the rest of the funds so I call Alan to tell him that I have the money and that I'm coming to get the car. He tells me its not ready yet. I then asked him why not because he told me he would go ahead and finish fixing it if I bought him more money and he starts to scream at me. I'm like whatever and I bring over the rest of the money. The people at Mr. Transmission became downright nasty which isn't surprising if their owner doesn't have to exhibit manners and be truthful, why should his employees? It is the following Thursday before I am able to pick up my car. During this time, they gave me a loaner car on Tuesday, a white Dodge Durango that was filthy on the inside and the outside and had a shattered windshield and also extremely poor gas mileage. I had no choice but to accept it because I didn't have a vehicle.

I picked up my vehicle. It had no gas in it. We barely made it to the QT which is less then a mile away. Of the way home, it starts running hot. There was no antifreeze of any kind in the car. I had a mechanic look at it to discover that there is now a crack in my radiator. There was nothing wrong with my radiator before I brought it to Mr. Transmission and now suddenly after leaving it in their car for 2 months, I have been swindled, lied to, harassed and to add injury to insult, they break my car and drive out all of my gas. I am so tired of this entire situation. I can't even talk about it without having an anxiety attack.

This is the email I sent to Corporate and the BBB. I wished I had visited complaint first then I would not have went to Mr. Transmission... But I'm just exhausted. I don't even have the emotional energy to deal with this insanity. This has been the most appalling experience of my life.
