I purchased a 2003 car this summer with a warranty set to expire Nov. 15/08. Started getting calls warning me that my warranty was about to expire and that I better renew now before it was too late.instead of looking into who was making me this offer, I assumed it was my current provider and readily agreed to renew it for $2299.00. The company assured me that this warranty covered absolutely everything, bumper to bumper including electrical, power train, etc. With zero deductible. Since I have an after-market sun-roof in my car, my warranty was not supposed to cover it - when I asked if it would also be covered, I was assured that it, as well as everything else was covered. Yeah - now I'm happy (especially since I'm having a couple of minor problems with the roof)!
After asking for an electronic check, I provided them w/my bank information. I was put on hold and asked to wait while the funds were verified. The employee "Josh" came back on the line and said that they were unable to take funds from a Canadian acct. As there had been some sort of bank fraud in the past. When he realized that I was a Cdn. Resident, he put me on hold and when he came back on he said that the price was actually $2,449.00 as parts were more expensive in Cda. Luckily for me I knew my VISA wouldn't handle this amount so I offered to send a chq. Again, put on hold, this time for the address. I was given the address 206 W. Cummings Park, Woburn, Ma. 01801. Thank god it occurred to me to check into this co. I called my local dealership who had never heard of this warranty company. My next call was to my current warranty co. (Optimum thru GM) who warned me that no reputable company is going to warranty my '03 Cadillac for 150,000 km / 5 years with zero deductible for $2449. Finally occurs to me (so I'm a bit slow) to look on-line where I find many, many reports of harassment and fraud. Can't wait til they call and I can tell them the check's in the mail!
