Quality Auto Parts
Automotive online parts company with deceptive selling practices & ripoff Chicago

If you are looking for online auto parts this company boast that it can get you practically anything. I will warn you however that the only thing I got was screwed and a bunch of headaches so think twice before you buy from this company online. I saw another complaint on here about the same company and interestingly they had some similar experience. This is what happened to me. I was in dire need for a sunroof rubber seal for my 1985 eldorado bairitz with factory installed sunroof. This is a discontinued GM factory item very hard to find and so I put some inquirees out online with one of them being with Quality Auto Part.com. The part search seems pretty straight forward and you have to wait for a response from them via your email address. They got back to me pretty quickly and stated they did in fact have this item in stock and to give them a call. I was still skeptical but still hopeful and excited in that hey maybe that actually had my part. Once on the phone I spoke with a representative and told them I made the online request. They asked for the reference number and said yes they could help me. I told them that I needed this item for the vehicle mentioned above and that it had to be specifically for this model only and not a generic or aftermarket because it would not work and I would not order the item.

I came to find out from the representative that this was not just a rubber seal but in fact was supposedly the glass, two panels and rubber seal and that the item was brand new in OE factory GM Cadillac carton. I really was not expecting to go for anything other than the rubber seal however if this was my only way of obtaining this part then so be it. The price was right considering it was the whole unit and supposedly new according to the two reps I spoke with. I was still skeptical however and told them to double and triple check the information. My car having a factory installed sunroof is different than aftermarket and I knew this because I am in the business, this is my car and I have had experience with this and others before. They went so far as to tell me that a floor manager went down, opened the box and check the information on the box and its contents. So far no red flags and I was feeling a little more comfortable and reassured that the part I was ordering would be good. I went ahead and ordered the part. About a weekand a half later I called to check status because I still did not receive my item. They cancelled the order. I asked why and they claimed the price quoted to me was incorrect. I said to myself here we go. I asked them well how much is it? They claimed the price should be $210.00 and not the $196.00 price I was quoted. I told them for a lousy few dollars they didn't ship the item or even try to contact me about it? That was my first red flag. The rep was very appologetic and seemed sincere. We went over the whole deal again and I gave them the benefit of the doubt and reordered the item at the $14.00 increase. The day I recieved the package via UPS I could see something was wrong immediately. The package was not a factory GM cadillac carton but rather a home made card board carton taped up that looked like it went through hell. I proceeded to open the carton and i could not believe what was inside. It was a very beaten up looking used junk yard aftermarket part! To establish this I called a sunroof specialist from my area and he confirmed what I already new. He even stated he thought I had been taken and has seen these scams before. I said well I will contact the company and if they don't do the right thing I would then contact my credit card company so at that point while I was mad and upset and disapointed knew I should still be protected. Thats were I was wrong. I contacted the companies customer service and went over everything that had happened. They had detailed notes on file and could tell that this was not right and could clearly hear I was not happy. They promised me that they would issue me an RMA and UPS call tag for pick up at their expense since it was their fault and that a company representative would be calling me back within the hour. This never happened. I called the company and could get no one to help me. I proceeded to call their main office that evening in Chicago. They gave me a run around at first but after screaming at them they placed me on with someone that supposedly could help. He stated he would look into it and promised he would have someone contact me early the next morning. That never happened and so I tried several more times calling. That turned into an e-mail to me stating any claims would have be done online. They also stated they were in receipt of my complaint and that they were confused because I stated my problem with the part was that it was an aftermarket part which it was. That was not the only part of my complaint however but it is what they focussed on and stated their yard claimed it was not aftermarket. Funny they said their yard considering they were supposed to have this item in stock and it was told to me that it was a brand new item and that quality only deals with new OE brand parts. What a deception! From there I found out that contacting them via e-mail was impossible and I would now ultimately be rspponsible for shipping charges
and a 25% handling. I knew at this point I was obviously getting the run around and they weren't going to do what they initially said they would and that my only remedy would now have to be through my credit card company.

This proved to be difficult as well. Apparently this company knows all of the ins and outs of what they can do to exclude themselves of any obligations to do the right thing by consumers so that they can readily scam people out of their money. They are registered with the BBB online through which I made a complaint also but being they are registered with them it apparently ads a little weight there and at this point I am not sure if the BBB is going to do anything or if they do how long it will take to register the complaint I filed against them? I found out well into this fiasco that Quality supposedly deals only in used auto parts? No where on their site did I recall seeing this in the beginning and in all my e-mail correspondences with them do I see any mentione of this. Their representatives obviously stated
just the opposite. Their representatives were either desperate to make the sale and told me my item was brand new or they have this as a part of their scam since they were using this as a part of their defense. I do not know why it turned out so difficult for my credit card to resolve this? They sent me after two months that this case was closed because of no additional info. I told them several times I had additional info and they never got back to me. I then tried reopening the case and provided them with more than enough proof that if this was a court case I would win hands down. I sent them e-mail correspondences we had, I sent them signed professional witness testimony stating the item was wrong and did I mention this? In my order I recieved a bill from one of their junk yard suppliers showing them billing Quality and a ship to my address. I supplied copy to my credit card company of this as well. I also called this company called Jimmies Auto Parts the very day I recieved the item and told them exactly what I was looking for as I stated above and they could not help me and verified they only had parts they pulled directly from junk cars in the lot. I asked them if they had any Eldorado's with factory sunroof and they didn't even know what the difference was until I told them. They then adbmitted that they did not and only had the aftermarket sunroofs. Quality's cost on the item was something rediculous at only $60.00! I myself could have done this though my own place of business. After all was said and done however it appears Quality won the day. I could not believe this. I never experienced anything quite like this online or otherwise and was shocked and very annoyed. I wrote this because I do not want to see anyone else have to go through anything like this. I won't get into that can of worms here but do not think or believe that you are safe with your credit card company. Why would a company like Quality go this far when you have them dead to rights? Why would they go out of their way and risk their reputation to see a customer disatisfied? Whatever the reason just make sure you do some research before you place orders with any online company. What ever you do don't place any orders with this company. They have proven themselves deceptive, untrustworthy scammers. They are an embarrasment to other reputable automotive part supplying companies and online companies in general. Whats even more discerning is how they are let to get away with it. They may have won the day but if I have anything to do with it they will not win the war. Companies with these sort of deceptive practices should not be allowed to do business. Be forewarned and good luck to you with your online shopping experiences.
