Complaint / Review
Aamco Transmission Anderson S.C
Stupid rip-off liars

I agreed to have AAMCO transmission replace the transfer case gaskets and do agreed upon suggested preventative maintenance (worn gears) to my 1989 Trooper ($1200). The transmission and vehicle ran beautifully before I brought it in. It now has a "clunking problem" before shifting into first gear, especially when cold, and it is very difficult to shift between first and second. They took it back in and tried to fix it the same day before I even got out of their parking lot. They have changed oil four times, and now say that the problem is not TRANSMISSION.

DETAILS:
AFTER ALMOST MONTH, I was refunded the $1200 charged BUT TROOPER STILL HAS THESE
PROBLEMS.

The manager's son is the service representative that told me that my transmission checked out fine except for
some wear on gears and gaskets. He also told me that HE had told the technicians that they had better get my Trooper fixed soon because I brought it in WITHOUT a problem and NOW had a problem.in addition, he toldme that he even told them, that if I wasn't upset now that I would be upset soon and that he would certainly understand why. He assured me that I would have my Trooper in time for my trip the following Friday.

The week after this the manager entered the picture and the problem was not related to anything they did.

The Trooper was picked up the following Wed. And still the problems existed. They refused to take it back in on Friday the day before my vacation. Two office visits and three phone calls no assistance - no responsibility - I
should take it elsewhere.

Subsequent phone calls:

Manager has been rude, even claiming my premeditation to get work done for free and said that I had other problems with transmission when I brought it in. When I desperately explained that I could provide statements from friends who drive or ride in the the vehicle, he told me that this was further evidence that I plan this.

After several attempts to get fair treatment and after his final insults, I told him that they would hear from my lawyer. I then received a certified letter stating that they would pay for an independent repair shop to check out the Trooper.in addition, if I could get them to PUT INTO WRITING that the problem was transmission related or caused by them, they would pay for THIS DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE.

I can't trust this owner, manager
or the service representative based upon my experience, since I have dealt with them since mid - Nov.

I have been treated unfairly and have a Trooper that is still leaking in my carport. I am afraid to have anyone
touch the vehicle. This AAMCO manager didn't charge me "in good faith" only to tell me approximately 2 days later that since I was not charged anything they didn't have any responsibility to take care of these problems.

I have original parts and can document most all of this. I don't want anyone to have to go through this and I want to inform others. Please provide information on what I can do or what choices are available besides a lawyer.
Thank you.

"In tears and honorable".
