In April of this year (what is left of it) 2007 my wife was driving home from work doing about 55mph in heavy traffic driving our 6000 lb Chevy Avalanche. As she was driving, the right rear driver's side tire failed, blowing out while she was in the left lane. Luckily she was able to get over to the shoulder and stop without crashing. I came home from work and on my way into town came to where she was and changed the blowout with the spare. I took the tire to the local Goodyear dealer, Action Gator to find out why the tire failed and what they were going to do about it. They inspected the tire visually and with a flashlight to look for a puncture from a nail or other road debris. There was no puntures so they took the tire and filled out a form to have it sent to a plant somewhere in GA where supposedly it would be x-rayed. I asked for a copy of the form or some sort of receipt but was told that I could not have one, they don't give them out. Check back in a few weeks I was told by the manager. They wanted to sell me a new tire to which I replied that I would not buy another tire til I found out what happened to the blowout tire, by the way they wanted 225 bucks for the replacement. Well I checked back in about four weeks and no, they had not gotten any word about the tire. Six weeks later I checked back, still nothing. Eight weeks later, nothing. Keep in mind my wife is riding on the spare all this time. I asked for an explanation as to why this is taking so long and they didn't know. I called the Goodyear corporate office and spoke to customer no-service. They couldn't/wouldn't do anything. They said that they were unable to call the plant to find out why they haven't looked at my tire. I asked if I could call this plant and they said no, only the dealer could call. I went back to the dealer and told them what their corporate office had told me to which they said that they called but the plant people didn't answer them. I have a claim number for the tire and another number related to the claim and as of December 23rd, over EIGHT MONTHS later my tire has still not been inspected or a credit issued and no explanation or time when I can expect an answer. I have learned that the individual dealers get the credit for the failed tires if issued from the factory. I don't know if that is the case here but it certainly makes me wonder. I know one thing, I filed a consumer complaint about them with the government office and still nothing. It's a big joke to them, they make you run around back and forth between the dealership and the factory while they point fingers at each other and waste your time. Well it's obvious to me that they don't care about me or my familes' safety and will choose another brand when replacing these factory tires.
