My wife and I bought our first vehicle from this car lot in Atwater California. The very next morning the engine blew and the car vehicle had to be towed away. After much argument we managed to out of the contract with the first vehicle and we chose a second vehicle.
Within a month the second vehicle was in the shop for a blown headgasket, and an electrical problem. We had purchased an extended warranty, but Smiley's was unwilling at first to honor the warranty that they had sold us.
After another round of arguments they did fix the vehicle but did a subpar job, the vehicle was in their shop a total of six times in nine months until the engine finally did fail.
When my wife confronted Rick Smiley, the Owner of Smiley's, about the situation he had told her he was sick of seeing us and trying to make us happy. He also told her "it was not his fault my wife and I chose a bad vehicle" A fitting statement considering he sold us that vehicle.
My wife and I finally took the vehicle to another dealership who fixed the vehicle correctly found the fault of the original problem, A very easy fix that could have saved everyone involved a lot of time and money,
Needless to say Smiley's lost a customer for life. But after talking with others in the community this story is nothing new with this dealership. So buyers beware!!
