I went into les schwabs in eugene and explained to the service person we were driveing from eugene oregon to new mexico and the brakes didn't feel right.
Of course i got the deal..."we can't let you off the lot with those tires" so i bought a set of their used tires.
As far as the brakes went, i was told "they look fine, has the truck sat for awhile" I told him yes... He said "they are just a little stiff, put in a return spring and they should be fine"
He said i may consider in the future having the brake system replaced and gave me a quote. But also siad it didn't need to be done now, but I should keep it in mind.
So, feeling safe with new tires and the brakes checked we started our trip to new mexico.
I made it as far as the pass before grants pass when I was coming down the pass 15 miles from granst pass and had no brakes with a 12 foot trailier loaded with my belongings.
I was lucky, there was a trucker pull out and I managed to get the truck pulled in and stopped.
After pulling myself together, I limped the truck to grants pass, rented a room and went to the local les schwab.
What I was told is... The intire system failed and i had to replace it... About 600.00
why was this not done in eugene... Good question
so called the eugene store... Not their problem
called main office... Not their problem. And their guy at the eugene store said it needed to be replace...
I had 30,000 in the bank at the time... If i was told it needed to be replace... Don't you think i would have done that???
So had to rent a space for my trailier and leave my truck at ls schwabs in grants pass and my wife and I had to drive to new mexico, because my 17 year old daughter was waiteng for us.
2 weeks later we again had to drive from new mexico to grants pass to pick up the truck.
This expense of driveing back and forth from new mexico to oregon was around 3000.00, all because someone at les schwab couldn't be honest and take the time to fix what was wrong.
I almost died because of there lack of judgment... Or were they just lazy. Of that I am unsure, but I will never do business with les schwab again
